Short Profile
The world bristles with life, its been some time since the crusades had been waged and in an alternate universe the conflict with the Islamics over the Holy Land continues to rage, rather its raged well into the 20th century. Even in the supposed technological revolution, knights and kingdoms are still the way of the world. Soaring Gothic city states dot the countryside as men fight and die in the name of Just Cause. The Holy Roman Emperor still holds dominion over much of Europe and the savages in the America's fight to repel the barbarous Spaniards, greedy and desperate for gold to fuel its war with France.

Marie-Phillipe Fortesque, the forebear of this practice claimed that it served to make the line strong with the people it protected.
