This young and geeky youkai is a Hakutaku, a type of creature renowned for its prophetic and knowledgable abilities. It's a type of yokai also known as a Bai Ze. They are said to be able to predict disasters and bring about good fortunes, assuming their advice is heeded and that they remain appeased by mortals.
Shuzo is somewhat famed with the nickname "The Great Wandering Library", as they are a collector of knowledge, both common and obscure. They've sought to fill their brain with arcane knowledge and cunning, but also their mouth and stomach with wonderful meals and flavours. As well as recipes, to recreate the flavours!
After all, one of the things a Hakutaku is said to be good at is knowing how to best fend off other yokai. Shuzo has made it their mission to not just track down ways to defeat yokai, but also figure out just how many of them are edible! Ostensibly, this is to protect mankind from these foul monsters, but its also because Shuzo just really loves their taste and adores learning what they taste like!

The bookish and gluttonous youkai does have a few other duties as well, however. As a guardian of mankind and bringer of good fortune, they try not to harm virtuous and honorable humans. Nothings to say they can't teach a few lessons to N'er-do-well's though! Or, sometimes sneakily snack on a wholesome person!
Another element of their nature as a Hakutaku is that their third eye to dispell various illusions and also store items inside of their mind. This is where they keep most of their books, scrolls and parchments, deeply nested inside their mind palace, ready to be plucked out at any time. Hence the title, "The Great Wandering Library"!

Beyond that, they have access to a whole wider array of magic, such as devouring knowledge or dreams to fuel their own intelligence. Usually this leaves the victim confused, but not permanently hampered. They can also use their wide repetoire of magic to call upon all kinds of weird and kinky spells to suit their needs.
Shuzo is particulary fond of turning some of their victims into books or parchments, or alternatively devouring their souls, as a means to consume their knowledge. By either absorbing the soul, or jamming the book into their mind palace, they can easily acquire all of their victim's knowledge and experience.
