Just when you think you've seen it all, reality throws you a curveball. Things like... thermodynamics, for example. We thought we knew how it worked, but it turns out, below absolute zero behaves like infinitely hot. Who knew?
And who knew that youkai could suffer from Asthma, or Albinism? There's examples of both, though, in Gensokyo... Patchouli has asthma, and doesn't really leave her house much as a result, while Kinuko, here, is OBVIOUSLY an albino. That, or special in some other way... but the sensitivity to light and lack of pigmentation tends to indicate albino.
Of course, what's most striking about her isn't that she's an albino so much as it is that she's a tsuchigumo. She's... okay, she's BIG. Big, and spidery, and about the size of a VW Beetle, in all, her spidery abdomen covered with silky, fluffy white fuzz, all over, and her human torso... well, it belongs on a girl who's about 5'4, with a pleasantly curved figure, pale skin, blue eyes, and white hair. She's cute, though, in a somewhat awkward, fidgety, slightly timid way. Friendly, but shy.... which leads to other awkwardness.
See... she LIKES people, but humans have issues with her kind, more than they do with most types of Youkai. It's not anything that Kinuko holds against them, as she understands the reason for it, but nevertheless, it IS there. Tsuchigumo have eaten people of various races for years and years now, so of course people are leery of them. It has led to her taking some... extreme measures, to stave off loneliness, though, as other Youkai are a bit leery of her, and rarely visit, too! Of course, since she lives in the Forest of Magic, thanks to her sensitive skin and eyes, that rather explains that.
But, to counter her loneliness... she sets traps. Yousei traps. Little silk dolls that she makes herself, which she leaves out in the open. And, then, a yousei comes along, and scoops it up... and the trap is sprung! Using her ability to manipulate things through her silk, the doll becomes a rope, and swiftly coils her victim, and tugs them to their doom! ... such as it is. It's not a terrible fate to be snuggled for a while by a lonely spidergirl, and then released, is it?
Still, she wishes she had someone a little more permanent to spend time with. Maybe one day she will...
