Shinra

'One day, the doctor will come back for me~! And he'll bring lots of presents because I've been such a good girl!'

Excerpt from the journal of Doctor Thaddeus Reiner
24 December, 1966

It's sad to think this is going to be the last thing I write. So much work to be done. So much has been left unfinished. But, it's necessary. This can't go on any longer.

The alchemic clay I created turned out to be the perfect medium for forming life. Shinra has been stable for eleven years now, with no sign of deterioration. Indeed, even attempts to destroy her myself have proven her to be a resilient creature. Her obedience and dedication are both highly unusual... despite the things I've done to her, she's still always overjoyed to see my face, and never seems bothered by anything.

The government wants her as a weapon. There's absolutely no way I'm letting that happen.

I told her I was going shopping for her present... her birthday is coming up in a few days. It's not the first time I've lied to her. It'll be the last, though.

Hopefully she stays locked up there forever... she's happy in her little room. I'm the only one who knows where the lab complex is. I'm the only one with data on how to replicate the clay. I'm going to tell the research bureau that I've destroyed her, and the lab. And then I'm going to take my own life.

Shinra, I know you won't read this. Even if you saw the note, you'd not be able to. But, I'm sorry for everything. I hope you have a good life. Maybe someday you'll find someone who can handle you.

Shinra is a golem. A girl created out of a form of alchemically modified clay by the late Doctor Thaddeus Reiner. For decades she's been locked up in a little room in his abandoned laboratory, playing with the few possessions she owns, not a care in the world. But if someone lets her out... well... that's a different story!

She's a very simpleminded and easily amused girl, and acts rather young and naive despite her age. Her possessions amount to little more than a set of letter blocks, a toy car, a soccer ball, two bouncy balls, and three dolls. She also owns a broken clock and a pillow and blanket set, and the outfit portrayed in the picture above, though she has lots of trouble dressing herself.

As she's been sealed underground for decades, she doesn't understand many social concepts such as ownership or personal space, and she often touches things and people out of curiosity, which can cause issues because she's both clumsy and slightly sticky, as her body is made up of moist and squooshy claylike material.

She also doesn't understand death or any similar concepts, so to her, the Doctor is just 'gone'. People she absorbs into her claylike body are similarly 'gone', and she expects she'll see them again someday. Being told otherwise might upset her a bit, but who'd want to do that to such a cute little... well, okay, big, she's ten feet tall... smush?

She can't read, and she's not been educated particularly well, but she speaks well enough. Her voice is soft and musical, if a little high-pitched, making her sound younger than she really is.

The original concept for her was to make a sort of automaton out of clay, a mindless weapon that could be sent in, and if destroyed, simply reformed by an artisan. She's the one and only prototype, and as she was never meant for combat herself, the doctor took... artistic liberties with her body, hence the smushy feminine form. Of course, the doctor is gone now, and with him the formula for her alchemical makeup... and it's nigh-impossible to get anything out of her, even if you do manage to get your hands on her.

And of course, she eats folks. If you're scrolling down to see that bit, here it is. As she's essentially a sticky clay googirl, she's quite adept at eating folks however she wants, though it's all technically absorption in the end, her body converting her victims into more of her substance, padding her out quite snugly. Her tongue can stretch, as can her hair and tail, and she can glob people down with her clay if required. She's not a particularly adept predator, and her clumsiness can cause collateral damage at times, but it is what it is~

More to come.
