Shijo is a naga that was born in a remote fishing village that was known to have somewhat peaceful relations with the supernatural, a fact that Shijo was made well aware of as a child because everyone kept wondering what exactly his mother was since hse was clearly not a naga. With small, sharply pointed horns and the white markings covering his body and tail, its always been obvious that there was a bit...off about the circumstances of his birth but his mother left before he hatched and it always seemed rude to pester his pops about such a delicate topic. So instead Shijo focused his attention on having a rough and tumble childhood before he was expected to pick up the fisherman's lifestyle which he was quite good at..but he had no real passion for. One could even say that he was a bit of a thug, considering he got into fights all the time, was frequently found in the bed chambers of the local cuties come morning, and sometimes came into posssession of things that didn't belong to him the day before. He wasn't suited for small village life and everyone knew so before he wore out his welcome Shijo left his village in search of a greater purpose. After all, he had heard a ton of stories about naga guys falling to gluttony and sloth just because they relied on their natural talents and didn't amount to anything and he definitely didnt' want to end up like that! He wanted to make something of himself! So he joined a well known monastery to travel down the path of enlightenment..
That lasted for a few years until a particularly curvy shrine maiden tempted Shijo just too much and he was angrily chased out of the temple with his still wriggling belly cradled below him. So fishing was out, swimming skills and subtle gifts be damned and being a monk didn't suit his personality...so Shijo settled on something he thought would! Becoming a trained ninja! He even joined up with a clan of other naga ninjas to have a group of guys around that he could socialize and train with, finding their company more than ample reward for teaching them the martial arts tricks he had picked up in his youth. Now he's training his mind and body all the time but he's practically paid to break the law! How great is that? What's more, no one gets mad at him unless he ends up taking out the wrong target, but he's getting better about that so there weren't any huge problems. Sure, he still got upset when thinking about the possible taint in his bloodline and his growing reputation as a playboy was a problem when he was struggling to blend in but those were minor issues...something he'd sort out on his own while he figures out his next step in life. Meanwhile he's learning how to hone his stealth skills, the best applications for his sleep-inducing venom, and getting to relax with some like-minded guys he wished he had known as a hatchling! What could be better?
Part of the Osyi_Clan compromised of naga trained as infiltrators and assassin as well as their servants. Shijo views himself as a big brother and teacher to his brethern, even if that's not always the case. He also teaches his prodigous talent for hypnotism to any of his 'brothers' that ask him to, free of charge even! That's what a mentor is for after all!
