Lives are made of choices. Some of us are lucky that when we are young we make mistakes that, while serious, are corrected by the flow of time. For a select few, mistakes are made that last a lifetime or in the case of Shade, an eternity... In his youth, while traveling he ended up conversing with a strange man in a forest far from his home. The man had a strange amulet that seemingly held a void. A void you might ask? Nothing, nothing at all. During the aforementioned encounter Shade was rewarded with a gaping wound below his lowest right rib which instead of bleeding in the normal manner simply seemed to exist as a purely black streak. In all other cases it is as any other wound is except that it does not bleed and does not "fit" within any particular time or spacial reference but instead binds his existence to that reference. Should he be eaten, digested or even annihilated he simply begins to reform wherever the gash happens to be. This has obviously led to some rather unfortunate and downright painful encounters however he's slowly learned to dull or increase his senses to the point that he can withstand what most mortal men would consider mind bending pain.
