Sector_Seven

((OOC: Sector Seven is an organization and both an antagonistic and allied force in the video game series Blazblue. Describing what Blazblue is would be an entire other massive topic itself. If you have any questions about the setting, please, there is absolutely no harm in asking. I’d be happy to explain anything you might want to know.))

Sector Seven was a loose collection of smaller organizations that operated under the principle that anything that cannot be controlled by people is dangerous or at best incomplete. In this regard, Ars Magus, being only controllable through the use of a grimoire that normal people must ‘borrow’ from the Libarium, they are not a sufficient method for running society, and give the NOL entirely too much power. As such, Sector 7 had two primary goals.

The first was to develop a new way of controlling and even creating Ars Magus, using science rather than the magical methods that the vast majority of the world had fully embraced. If this simply could not be done, if it was ever deemed impossible to develop and control Ars Magus through science instead of magic, then the secondary goal of Sector Seven would become its primary. That being the utter destruction of Seithr, the magical, pollutive element that powers Ars Magus, effectively removing the main source of magic from the world. Of course that’s all past tense isn’t it? Sector 7 used to be run by a committee of individuals, all from agencies that existed before the Dark War itself, the primary reason for science being supplanted by magic.

Yet in a few ways they overreached themselves, earning the ire of perhaps their most important researcher. In a few ways they overreacted to developing situations, and ultimately? When the Imperator Izanami had the world almost completely obliterated and drowned in Seithr..they did not survive. Today Sector 7 is a much smaller beast. There is no community ruling it now. It is essentially just the name of Kokonoe’s own personal research organization. She’s the leader, the primary (and pretty much only) researcher. All the other remaining members of Sector 7 are either assistants, or field agents. She’s even technically an ally of Kagura’s reformed NOL, rather than the staunch opposition that Sector 7 once posed to the Librarium. Even if her goal of getting rid of magic, and Seithr especially, still stands.

Many of the shadier practices of Sector 7 are gone, it’s a more open organization now. Even if applications to join are now entirely under Kokonoe’s stringent standards. It’s operations are typically rarer and smaller of scale, but no less carefully orchestrated, all to the purpose of advancing her research, her scientific studies, and finding a way to purge Seithr from the world. She doesn’t really care about controlling Ars Magus with Science. She figured that out a long time ago, right down to alternative fuel sources. It wasn’t her fault the old Sector 7 couldn’t grasp her research.

The ITP

After the events of Central Fiction, Kokonoe became aware of a number of critical and crucial observations. Both about the state of this world, and the nature of the Boundary. Her goals of ridding the world of Seithr seemed particularly foolish thanks to these observations, but not one to give up, she decided that if there were no answers within the world itself to help her, she’d turn to sources outside of the world to help. That meant traveling into the Boundary, not just into it, but through it, out to the deepest parts, to punch a hole through the Boundary and into other worlds entirely.

This was dubbed the Interdimensional Transfer Project.

Remnants of the research left behind by Relius Clover helped shed light on how to do this, and eventually, after much work, sweat, and angry swearing, the project was greenlit, with Lambda initiating the first steps. The first experiment did not go...quite as planned. Yet, no one was killed, Lambda was easily patched up, and Kokonoe had new information in light of this failure, and kept trying, kept refining until...she did it. She punched a hole to a completely different world, with its own rules, people, events and circumstances.

It was a bit too similar to her own for her liking, being basically the same world but with slightly different events in the past leading to a butterfly effect, but largely similar people. Yet, she had at least proven the concept, and officially greenlit the ITP for proper scope and investigation. Now, it’s not uncommon for Tager or Lambda to be sent into the Boundary and ‘punching’ their way into a completely different universe to investigate and explore. To see if something in this world might not be useful for finding a way to rid their own world of Seithr, and magic in general. Even without finding such solutions, the information has at times led to insights in other areas of research, sometimes leading to upgrades for Tager and company.

Either way, it sure gives the people in those universes some interesting stories to tell when these strangers from another universe leave.

Sector Seven
Appearance Name Height Notes
Kokonoe Mercury 5' 1"
155 cm
The De Facto leader of Sector Seven after the events of Central Fiction (fourth installment in the blazblue series), Kokonoe is a figure of marvelous potential. Her parents were two of the strongest creatures to ever live. Konoe, the Ninth Sage, one of the most powerful mages to ever live if not THE strongest, and Jubei, a cat type beastkin widely considered to be the strongest being on Earth. She has access to her mother’s magic, and has even used what is arguably one of Nine’s strongest spells. One can only guess as to the physical potential she might have if she ever applied herself but...she doesn’t. Indeed, she refuses to even use her mother’s own magic. The only reason she ever used that spell: Infinite Gravity was under duress, where there was no choice. It was either use the spell, or watch everyone around her die. Not much of a choice eh?

So if Kokonoe doesn’t hone her body to take advantage of whatever physical power her father might have passed onto her, and refuses at all but the most grave of situations to use her mother’s magic...what does she do? Well, that’s obvious. She’s devoted herself to science, chemistry, physics, nuclear technology! Kokonoe’s devoted the majority of her hundred years of life to dragging science up from the past to match anything any magician or Ars Magus can do, and she’s been getting pretty damn close. She’s already recreated a Nox Nyctores using entirely technological means, something that most would have said was impossible before she did it. She’s fetched up one of the strongest souls from where they were lost and trapped in the Boundary. Kokonoe’s still not satisfied though. She won’t be satisfied until she finds a way to remove Seithr from her world, until magic is as obsolete as people thought technology was in the initial days of the NOL’s founding.
Iron Tager 7' 10"
240 cm
Also known as TR-0009 and the ‘Red Devil of Sector 7’ Iron Tager is essentially Kokonoe’s right hand woman, and the one she will almost always turn to whenever a job is needed. Formerly the captain of a mercenary troop hired by Sector Seven during the Ikaruga Civil War, Iron Tager’s troop met with misfortune, butchered at the hands of a psychopathic monster named Azrael. Iron Tager and Bullet were the only survivors, the last on a very slim technicality. Kokonoe personally rebuilt Tager, injecting her with ‘Devil Genes’ that helped her repair what little was left of her body, and what couldn’t be regenerated Kokonoe replaced, turning Tager into a gigantic, red skinned goliath, and one of the strongest fighters around.

Tager has been the focal point and test subject of many of Kokonoe’s experiments. She was her first proper Artificial Causality Phenomena weapons. A scientific replica of the Nox Nyctores, the ten most powerful weapons magic had ever created. When she created the Idea Engine, a more streamlined version of this, Tager of course got that upgrade, as well as tougher armor, stronger alloys. Tager’s body is itself built around a small nuclear reactor built into her torso, and her fighting style focuses on electricity and magnetism, able to magnetize almost anything and sling it around, including her opponents.

Shortly after her creation, another dramatic and dangerous event did more damage, causing her to lose most of her memory. She has a vague remembrance of Bullet and her time with the mercenary troop, but ultimately she has largely only Bullet and Kokonoe’s word to go on when it comes to her and Bullet’s past relationship.
Bullet 5' 9"
175 cm
The only surviving member of Iron Tager’s mercenary troop. Bullet wasn’t even on the mission that led to their slaughter. She was cooped up in Sector Seven’s infirmary, forced to sit out of the mission for medical reasons. She was never told that Tager had survived and was merely given the troop’s pay and kicked out. She spent a lot of time trying to track down Sector 7 properly after that, even broke into a base of theirs to find more information, wanting answers regarding the fate of her friends and what she considered to be her family. Eventually she did manage to track down Tager and Kokonoe, the former didn’t remember her, not fully at least, but Tager felt something wrong at having to fight her. She knew she should remember her...and eventually?

Well eventually Bullet got her answers, she got her explanations and now works alongside Tager. She might still not be too fond of Kokonoe, but she did save Tager, and the two are back together, and even go on missions together. For Tager’s part she appreciates having a little extra back up in the field, and Bullet’s just happy to have her captain back. Even if Tager doesn’t fully remember her.
Lambda-11 5' 1"
155 cm
One of the odder figures at Sector 7, Lambda is what is known as a Prime Field Device. A specialized ‘doll’ created specifically to travel safely through the Boundary, a realm that separates their universe and world from others. Originally she was left for dead by the original creators, but Kokonoe had Tager retrieve her body and completely refurbished her. Installing an Idea Engine, repairing her entire body and restoring her to proper functionality. Ideally Kokonoe had wanted her as an android, a more unthinking machine for Kokonoe to control and direct properly. Unfortunately the Prime Field Device she had been created from had already been exposed to the Boundary long enough for the glimpses of a soul to appear through, until Lambda began showing full independence and her own personality.

Now, while she still works for Sector 7, she has a much more lenient role, at least as lenient as Kokonoe ever gets. She is often held in reserve, or sent on Boundary specific missions when Tager is down for maintenance. Technically Lambda doesn’t even fully live with the rest of them at Kokonoe’s underground lab/bunker, but spends a great deal of time elsewhere on the surface, living as a nun with her ‘sisters.’ Yet, that doesn’t stop Kokonoe from requesting her, or Lambda from accepting whenever she’s needed. Once Lambda was easily far stronger than Tager, although now aside from the sheer differences in fighting style (she’s much faster and more agile for one thing), their power difference is a lot harder to determine.
