The mansion is located on a large island somewhere in a lake in Gensokyo. It adopts an European elegant style. Inside, the Mansion looks abnormally bigger than from the outside. It has many corridors which leads to a lot of different kind of rooms, a library, living rooms, a kitchen, a basement, etc. Getting lost is quite easy even for someone with a perfect sense of orientation. The outside features a great garden all arround the mansion, fountains, etc. A somewhat tall brick fence with iron fences on top circles the area. Mountains can be seen nearby. The simple view of the domain is worth it. It is said that the Mansion has quite a strange staff, involving some low level youkais and fairies. Either ways the mansion is well guarded and taken care of. It is suggested to be carefull arround this area. As the owner of the mansion had more than once her hands covered in the blood of her many guests... |
Sakuya is the Chief Maid at the Scarlet Mansion. She works for her mistress, Remilia Scarlet, and is apparently the only human working at or living within the mansion. She has the power to stop and manipulate time to a certain extent. She is also incredibly skilled with all sorts of knives. Her aim incredible and her throwing skills amazing. Stopping time is also a handy way of doing large amounts of maid work in a short time. Because nearly everyone living or working at the mansion are maids, being the chief of them all means there are few people there with more authority within the mansion than Sakuya. Due to her ability and her look she was known to have a few nicknames such as "the elegant maid" or "the perfect maid". She works really hard and expect nothing less from perfection out of it, this is why the mansion is always clean. 
Hong has more of a chinese style. She is the gatekeeper of the mansion and unlike Sakuya, does a rather passable job. She was often found sleeping on the job. Hong is a youkai who has the ability to manipulate Ki as well as a very good training in martial arts. Overall she has strong physical abilities and shouldn't have too much problems taking out unwanted visitors. She is rather gentle and friendly, but can be very rough if in a bad mood. 
Koakuma is a devil (her names actually means "little devil") who works with Patchouli in the library. She is skilled with demon magics and some other form of magics as well. Obviously she's able to fly and float with her wings which is useful considering the height the bookshelves of the great library can have. She is quite knowledgeable and can appear friendly at times. Though she is a devil and guardian of the library and will not hesitate to take down anyone who is walking arround uninvited. 
Patchouli is a magician by race, not only was she born with amazing magical powers but she is also a genius and knows many many many things. Considering the time she passes inside the library it is not surprising. Well, she is the librarian after all. It seems that she's capable of very powerful magic of all kinds, using many elements in a single spell, but due to anemia and general poor health she's often unable to recite her spells. This problem, she was not able to fix even though she possess great magical skills and great medical knowledge. Believe it or not, she is actually arround 100 years old. |
Remilia is the owner of the mansion. She is by all definition a vampire from Gensokyo. She is currently 500 years old. Not much is known about her besides that she is there. She has the fearsome ability to manipulate fate along with powerfull magical abilities. She is physically strong, but her speed is ridiculous. Her movements can be mistaken for teleportation to even the fastest eye. However, she has like most kind of vampire a weakness toward sunlight. Staying in the sunlight won't damage her, but she will feel weaker and get tirred. She does sometime walks outside in daylight with an umbrella, and if she is, chances are that Sakuya will be tagging along. She is cunning and clever, lying to her is nearly impossible. She feeds off humans mostly, her diet consisting of living being but she has a small apetite. Patchouli is a close friend of her. 
Flandre is the little sister of Remilia, she is 495 years old. Remilia locked Flandre in the basement of the mansion because of her immense destructive power mixed with her personality. Remilia believed that letting her in the wild would cause her more harm than good and as such decided to keep her secret from the world for her own good. Flandre understands her sister's choice and no love is lost between the two sisters. Her personality? She is very childish, completly illogical and maybe insane or psychopath. She loves playing with living beings, finding amusement in being cruel. She will only listen to people she loves like her sister or her friends. Teaching her anything or worst, grounding her may result in a painful death. Unlike her sister, her apetite is huge and will not hesitate to devour anything she wants to. Recently, Remilia is trying to show her the outside world and how to act with other people. It should be said that most of the times, Flandre doesn't manage to keep civilized manners for much long. But Remilia believes she will eventually get her sister to be able to go out on her own without any problems. Besides from trying to educate her to walk arround food without getting crazy, Remilia was also forced to teach her sister how to feed properly. Since Flandre had so much destructive powers, most of her preys ended up completly obliterated. Now she is able to control her powers a bit more. |
Rumia is not really part of the Scarlet Family's mansion. She is a youkai who lives in the forest arround the mansion. Her relations with the others are limited to random encounters. Rumia is a cheerful youkai, she looks very friendly for a predator, but it's just her style. She looks adorable... until she becomes covered in darkness and asks you "Can I eat you?" which usually gets a negative answer which is then replied by her signature quote "Is that so?". She has the ability to manipulate darkness. Her abilities can not only block the sense of sight but just about any senses. Though it is possible that even her own self can't see trough her own darkness. This is still unknown wether it is true or false. Either ways, she is quite ravenous and lacks in manners despite trying to look kind and friendly. |
