Sayla Mass served among the crew of the White Base during the One Year War of UC0079. Unbenownkst to the other crew members at the time is that she was actually Artesia Som Deikun, the sister of the infamous Red Comet, Char Aznable. While she mostly served on the ship itself, she also proved herself as a skilled pilot, though the first time she piloted the Gundam she was hurt quite badly by the enemies. Even so, she ended up being a backup pilot of the Gundam when Amuro could not pilot it. Later in the war, she may have piloted the G-Fighter in order to support Amuro, though this part of history is hazy.
