Saya is a very energetic and outgoing girl, she loves her father alot and helps around the shrine when she aint at school, though that puts a hold to her social life, she dont get away from the shrine, so aint really explored much of life. Saya's over energetic personality, also makes her exteremly clumsy, falling over alot, or saying things she shouldn't and of course breaking alot of the stuff in the Shrines room's when she is cleaning. Even with those faults she is a determined girl and one willig to take on any challenge her father sets her, which caused her to land where is is now, she wont back down even when faced with impossible odds, and put those she cares for before her own needs.
Saya was born into a special family, her Mom and dad ran the shrine called Doi-Kaku Shrine, on the outskirts of the forest that surrounded Nexus city, the forest acted as a barrier, keeping any developers from coming near their shrine to bulldoze it down and turn it into more city space, as the forest surround the shrine was dangerous place for those who didnt now what they where doing, during the day it was safe, but once that sun had gone down, it best get to the city or to the shrine, as if your trapped out there, odds are you wont live to see the morning. Saya was the first and only child born to Reiku and Katsu who owned and ran the day to day bases in the shrine, but Saya never knew the secret the Shrine kept hidden deep within its depths, Saya's mother was a shrine Maiden one who was entrusted in keeping the demon's and monsters of the forest and any that came from another land away, by killing them off quickly, this meant Katsu was left to raise Saya as best he could, she learnt rather fast like her dad did, but she was alot to handle her extra energy and seer determination made her walk by the time she was 8 months old, and she could talk when she was 1 year old, though she wasnt bright at all, just learnt quickly, but all that energy caused her to become very clumsy, falling and breaking at least 4 times a day. As the years Passed Saya grew and grew until she was old enough to be en-rolled in the local college closest to the shrine, but on one condition, after school finished she had to return home to clean and keep the shrine looking in tip top shape, as they got many visitors, some seeking shelter for the day, some traveler's and others coming to pray. This meant Saya never got a social life, she never could make friend, despite her friendly and helpful nature, as she didn't have time after school to talk to any of the other students. A few more years passed, until she was 14 years old, and one day when she came back from college, she was greeted at the shrine gates by her father, holding a blooded Katana in his hands, Saya not knowing what this was, soon followed her father when he walked off, leading her to the main shrine, unlocking the door and walking inside, she saw her mothers body laying on the floor, covered in blood, with her arm and leg missing, Saya broke down in tears crying over her mothers body, her father finally decided to explain what Reiku did for the shrine, and now she had passed the duty would have to fall to her, as she was the next of kin. Saya, didnt want to kill, she was too kind and too friendly to hurt anyone or anything, but her father explained how these monsters and demons had been coming for millions of years and her family had kept them at bay, so a new Shrine maiden was needed, Saya told her father she couldnt do it alone, and her father Agreed, but they never had found someone or others to help their quest to end the blight of monsters on this world. Saya started training along with her school life and shrine duties, making her time even less, as she was training in order to fill her mothers shoes.
Saya though has one major floor with being a shrine maiden, her blood is alot richer and sweeter in taste then any normal humans blood, her juices are also the same, heighten in a rich flavorful sensation, like strawberries mixed with honey and vanilla, her blood is like peachs with a hint of lemon, making her body a flavor food, but she doesnt know this herself, its just a curse of being a Shrine Maiden.
