Sarafina
Sarafina is the 19 year old member of the Kikori Tribe on Kalatea Island.
Kalatea Island is an undiscovered place and the Kikori managed it to survive for thousands
of years on that place. The Kikoris life is all about spiritual rituals, which can be weird or even
frightening to outsiders. Cannibalism is a common practice. They don't eat their own people,
but they eat captured members from enemy tribes or sometimes even people from the civilized world, stranded
on Kalatea. There's nothing wrong for them about it, and they don't do it because of starvation. It's a sacred
practice for them to consume and being consumed. Consume means to show superiority, being consumed shows submission.
The Kikori are very submissive to their gods, so they even sacrifice some of their own members to their gods, from time
to time. A lot of the islands creatures, animals and plants are like gods to them, and a sacrifice from time to time
makes sure that they will have a good and fertile life on their island. On of their gods is a giant snake named Drala,
a fertility goddess. A sacrifice to her will help them to receive good crops, and pregnancy among the female members
of the tribe. Tribe members to be sacrificed have to be unmarried virgins (often warriors), male or female, so they won't leave a family behind.
Some members choose to be sacrificed by their own will, sometimes a victim gets chosen, isolated and prepared for it.
Sarafina spends her days with fishing, hunting and cooking. She is an unmarried virgin. She often dreamed of being married and becoming
a mother, but it can be difficult to find a mate for everyone in a small island tribe with a few hundred people. She is absolutely willing
to serve her tribe as a sacrifice, if she will get chosen for it, by the tribes priest one day.
