Ariel, princess of the mer capital of Atlantica, daughter to King Triton, able to change from mermaid to human at will. Would anyone even suspect such a pure and innocent looking creature to harbor a deep, dark secret within her mind?

Her ever-growing curiosity towards the human world was a logical sign that Ariel didn't think like most other mermaids, but it wasn't the first... However, sacrificing access to the human world to live in peaceful isolation means that the merpeople don't have the resources or tools necessary to detect early signs of mental illness... It started when Ariel was around 6 years old; she would often capture fish and other sea life from outside and sneak them to her room, where she would keep them as pets for a few days, during which she would "play" with them by brutally mutilating and torturing them until they finally expired. Over the years that followed, her targets would get progressively larger and larger, until one day when she had recently turned 9. It was during the hours after school when she invited one of her mermaid friends to come to her secret cave where she had begun collecting human artifacts. She wanted to show the other mermaid a new game the two could play that involved tying the poor girl to one of the pillars in the cave. Ariel bound the girl's hands behind the pillar and went digging into her collection, eventually pulling out a small pirate dagger. It was after the first painful stab into her stomach that the girl realized that this was no game she wanted to play, but by then it was already too late...

The whole of Atlantica was put on alert when the girl was reported missing by her parents. They found her drifting along the outskirts of Atlantica, her body brutally slashed and stabbed multiple times. When questioned as to whether or not she knew anything about what happened, Ariel denied any involvement. Eventually, the cause of death was ruled as a shark attack, and the case was closed.

That was Ariel's first taste of mer blood, and she had enjoyed it immensely... Within the next few weeks after her first kill, she had begun work on carving out a new chamber in her cave, where she could exercise her... pleasures... in secret. She used her beauty and innocence to charm friends both male and female alike to follow her to her cave, where she would knock them out and take them to her secret room to endure hours--sometimes days--of brutal, painful torture in various bloody ways; one such way allowed Ariel to discover a new liking--one for the taste of living meat and flesh. Over the years, as her experience with cannibalism and sadism grew, she managed to perfect ways to keep her victims alive longer, sometimes for months at a time. And when they finally did encounter the sweet embrace of death, she would find new and interesting ways for their remains to be found by the search parties that came after them, some of the corpses being found within Atlantica's walls itself!

Soon it was clear that the increasing number of brutal deaths could not have been caused by wild sea life alone, and King Triton and his royal staff were forced to acknowledge that one of their own people was behind this series of murders. Sources of news and information on the matter referred to this as the work of the "Atlantican Butcher", but not even Triton himself could have suspected that the culprit was actually his own beautiful and pure daughter...

When Ariel was finally given access to the human lands through Ursula's curse and eventual defeat, she brought with her those sadistic tendencies and pastimes she had embraced as a child. Only this time, she could enjoy the sight of her victims' blood longer on land, as the water would wash it away almost instantly. She moved her torture chamber from the secret room in her cave to the lowest dungeons of the castle she shared with her human husband, Prince Eric, who was none the wiser to her gruesome activities...

This cycle of bloodshed and death is caused by a deformity in Ariel's brain from birth, which prevents her from developing any sort of moral compass. What Ariel does is based on whether it is either fun or beneficial to her, regardless of whether it is morally acceptable or even legal. Ariel does what she wants, when she wants. This does not mean she is completely oblivious to the consequences of her actions, however; she knows perfectly well what will happen to her if she is caught, and she'll do whatever it takes and kill anyone who gets in her way to keep her wicked acts secret from the proper authorities. It helps that nowadays she is a cultural icon and can bribe and influence people to ensure she's always in the clear...

Nowadays, Ariel lives and works with the other Disney princesses, who are also oblivious to her more sadistic side... But that might one day change, when the Atlantican Butcher starts striking at them...
