Rylie_Martel
... what?
Really, it's not uncommon for her to get those stares from people(sort of) that she meets. Perhaps moreso because she stares back, but most of them don't expect to be spotted at all! With good reason, mind you... only a summoner can see those sorts of spirits in such vivid detail, with such ease. It's unnerving to them!
Meet Rylie Martel. Fifteen years old, and well on her way to learning how to use magic. REAL magic! How cool is that!? (very, of course). She's a student at a private academy for gifted children. Magically gifted, not academically. She's been there for some time now, in fact has spent seven years of her life there, with occasional visits home... it's all she knows.
Ask any teacher at the Academy about Rylie, and you'll mostly hear good things. She works well with others when she must, she's focused, she does her job quickly and well(when it can be done quickly), and she has an extraordinary memory. This isn't an uncommon trait, but for a summoner it's invaluable!
Of course, she seems destined to be a summoner. Why fight it? She has the ability, and if she doesn't learn how to use it, some of those spirits might gt the better of her! They don't want to be controlled by a mortal, after all, and she needs to learn how to defend herself! However, if asked what she likes best, she has one answer, and only one: Evocation. Battle magic!
Whether a whoosh of flame, a torrent of water, a powerful blast of air, or a spike thrusting out of the earth, battle magic is something almost every mage knows a little of. However, for Rylie, it's not something that comes easily. It's hard for her to learn, and hard for her to use, more than for someone whose talents lie in that direction. But she WANTS to learn how to use it, indeed, wants to master it! ... we'll see how it turns out.
As is? Well, she's a far better summoner than evoker. Her battle magic is... minor. What skills she has in that regard are highly limited, though nothing to sneeze at if she uses them well. Her summoning, though, is very useful, because it includes other disciplines, such as holding, sending, and banishing. She can hinder most attackers, and call up lesser spirits to harass them, while pelting them with fireballs the size of baseballs, as long as she doesn't panic!
In reality, though, she's far more likely to freak out and lose her focus, at least for a bit... and she's delicious.
AS far as her personality goes? Rylie's a bit awkward around strangers(really, who isn't?) but does her best to be friendly, at least when she's dealing with people. However, she's quite the avid reader, and at times becomes so distracted that she'll miss a meal(or three) as she reads, tucked away into some quiet corner somewhere. Were it not for her friends(mortal and otherwise) she'd go hungry more often than not. Silly girl.
As well... well, she's got an adventurous, inquisitive nature, so when there's not enough else to keep her entertained, she'll go find her own entertainment. Some of those who've found her have been... surprised, to say the least, by her predicaments, and her nonhuman friends.
