Royle is altogether cheap. This is the first thing you'll learn about him; it is the last thing you'll remember about him. It's not as though he's debilitated by inability to spend money so much as all the money he does have is earmarked for something else. Usually, that's the same item as he's looking at now for a negligibly better deal, miles to countries away. It's not his entire personality, but it's present enough that it bears noting here, and possibly several more times. Aggravating? Certainly. But he's not a bad person, at least not terribly so. And he can definitely be useful to a band of adventurers despite his spectacular thrift... in more areas than simply material/monetary expenditures.
His style of combat is somewhat strange, all things considered. A tremendously cheap raccoon spending untold amounts on arrows, enchanted or otherwise? Perhaps it's *because* he does so that he finds himself unable to part with money for other reasons? Maybe, but it seems to be something more than that. The tale of such and how he came to be a master magical archer are, however, stories best left for another time.
His clothing, if you can believe it despite his age, has lasted him years; he obtained most of it thinking he would grow into it, and for once that old chestnut proved fruitful. He will remove his cloak when custom dictates, but he always seems to keep a close eye on it. One could argue that the raccoon does this with everything, and that would certainly be true, but it's a different look in his eyes... and of course, he always keeps at least one hand on his bow and quiver if they happen to be taken off.
One point of note about Royle is his interactions with others, although this will become readily apparent as soon as he's presented with it. He doesn't know how to talk to women... at all. His body language, spoken words, planning, it's all just a mess. It's nothing so simple as being afraid of cooties, or distrusting all women. In fact, he wishes it was something so cut and dry. A paralyzing but obvious problem can have steps taken to rectify it. Something like this...? Well, it's led him on quite a journey in the
hope of finding some relief. Results remain to be seen...
