Roxie_Afshani

A massive WIP from An_IRL_Rabbit. Please pardon the dust.

Rashorra is a world rich with a diverse variety of intelligent life, and lamia are one such type. Also called naga, ananta, or serpents, lamia are Mosaics with a humanoid head, torso, and arms, but starting where a humanoid's hips would be, instead they have the body of a snake, and a long one at that. Their lower body is covered in scales, much like a snake, but their humanoid half isn't just skin - scaled patches cover parts of their upper body as well, mainly on their sides, back, arms, and face/neck. Lamia can vary wildly in size from sub-species to sub-species, with the smallest of them measuring waist-high to a human, and the biggest of them pushing 40 fulms or more, but most find themselves somewhere in the 15-25 fulm range. Unlike most intelligent life, lamia are cold-blooded, though most have enough body mass that they're able to maintain their body temperature. Still, they don't do well in colder climates, and are most commonly found closer to the equator, in the tropics or deserts of the world, though they can be found in temperate climates as well.

Roxana ‘Roxie’ Afshani here is one such temperate lamia. While her lineage can be traced back to the arid desert continent of Suaquor, the girl was raised clear on the other side of the world, in the megacity of Anarius. The girl’s on the bigger side of average for lamia, measuring about 23 and a half fulms long from head to tail-tip. Speaking of her tail, her snake body has the coloration of a desert snake, a light brown base with a dark brown diamond pattern and a pale off-white underbelly, while her humanoid torso is brown-skinned with a few scattered scale patches across her back, arms, and face. The differences don’t end there, however: her facial structure differs from a normal humanoid’s skull, as well. All lamia have lower jaws that are split down the middle, attached with an elastic ligament that allows them to spread apart. In addition, Roxie belongs to a venomous species of lamia, and has a pair of retractable fangs in the roof of her mouth. Her venom is not particularly deadly, but it does have sedative properties; a quick nip can incapacitate a human for a few minutes, while a bigger dose can knock out a horse for hours.

The grandchild of immigrants, Roxie naturally took an interest in her parents’ parents’ homeland when she was growing up. The differences between the land she knew and the old world fascinated her, and she always bugged her grandparents for more and more tales of what life was like there. ...

In her early 20s, she’s a student at Wolf Point University, studying Ancient Magics. The girl has a bit of magical talent herself, ...

However, it’s impossible to talk about Roxie - or lamia in general - without mentioning their dietary habits. Much like their snake cousins, lamia are one of the few races of intelligent life on Rashorra capable of swallowing their meals whole, and they must eat a lot, often consuming close to their body weight in food every month. They’re not purely carnivorous, but meat makes up the bulk of their diet, and much like the rest of Rashorra’s inhabitants, they find living, sentient meat to taste the best. That’s not to say they’re mindless eating machines, they’re as much a part of modern society as anyone, and Roxie is no exception to the norm when it comes to that. But spend enough time around her and she might just ask you to spend a few days working your way through her guts if she thinks you look tasty. If the need arises, however, she’s a capable hunter, both surprisingly fast and perfectly capable of using her venom to subdue prey. And while her size naturally has its advantages when it comes to her place in the food chain, she’s not the biggest fish in the sea, not to mention lamia meat is a delicacy in more than a few corners of the world.

Never/Dislike Her large size makes lends itself well to more predatory endeavors, but she's still edible if you feel up to the task. See the alt list for a full breakdown of what I do and don't like.

Never/Dislike Of course, those teeth aren't there for show.Snake meat is considered a delicacy in some places. A cooked meal with forks and knives is much preferred over bloody rip and tear.

Never/Dislike Absolute favorite, I'll almost never turn it down, but I understand not everyone has the stomach for a fully-cooked meal, so...

Never/Dislike ... spicing up a raw, wiggling meal with sauces or seasonings is a fine alternative.
