A Brief Look at The Nekomahji

The Nekomahji hail from a subterranean region that goes by many names. Some call it Shambala, though most from the realm in which they originate (a world known as Kalvaiir) call the place 'Homeland', so called because it was the birthplace of the Common tongue. They are the eldest land-dwelling race of sentient, humanoid beings from their realm, and the creators of mortal magic. Their patron deities are Sa'tael, Benevolent God of Balance and Tricksters, and Solaria, Goddess of the Sun and Order. They functioned in a tribal system lead by a chieftain they had known as the Archmage, whom served as the guardian of a powerful artifact known as the Iuluna Stone, from which all magic flows and through which it can be amplified and spread, allowing all races access to all magic with enough training.

It is said that Sa'tael murdered his wife out of jealousy and then went on to forsake his people. Whether this is true or not, humanity and its hired hands moved on to crush Homeland in hopes of taking the Iuluna stone for themselves. In the end, they merely caused it to be lost, and as such doomed students of all but their race's native magics to go hopelessly mad from uselessness. For two centuries this continued, until one day something began to surface from the collapsed ruins of Homeland. The leader of the main line of human nobility, which had been corrupted by the dark deity that placed the Nekomahji's destruction in motion, urged for the retrieval of that which disturbed the ground. What they found surprised them.

A pure-blooded Nejomahji was a rare enough sight, indicated by his tail (which most half-breeds did not seem to grow), but there was an anomaly with this one: he had a small gem embedded in the center of his chest that seemed to glow a dark violet. Much more surprising was the reaction the soldier discovering him had when he touched the gem of the still-living, yet incredibly youthful being, sparks of lightning dancing across his fingers as magic long lost to his bloodline was restored to him.

They had found Rodo Hiamaru, son of Tavo Hiamaru and the last of the Archmage Line. And it seemed that, with him, they had found their lost stone.

For a few centuries more, they kept Rodo within the palace as a sort of servant to the royal family. The female servants and members of the family seemed to have quite the fanciful opinion of him, as did some of the males... Much to the patriarchs' disdain on multiple occasions. If not for his use to the kingdom or his refusal to die when subjected to even the most carefully-planned 'accidents', along with his apparent eternal longevity, he would have been disposed with early on. However, he continued to live, and silently he resented his captivity... Though years of being exposed to some situations that most nobles would not disclose openly had warped his mind into that of a sexual deviant.

One day, Rodo discovered an old scroll when wandering through the palace halls, as he was wanton to do, and read it aloud. This scroll haphazardly launched him into the Nexus, and ultimately into the park, no doubt infuriating his former captors... But, at last, he was free. However, he would soon learn freedom would come at a price, and the ancient call to succeed his father would also catch up with him in due time.

The Iuluna Stone (In More Detail)

The Iuluna Stone was crafted by Sa'tael and a goddess named Chrona, whom resides over all time within her respective realm. It was a gem protruding from a black stone and taking on a similar appearance to a massive geode, glowing constantly in an array of blues, violets, and crimson. The stone was originally massive, though a portion of it was used to create the smooth gem now in Rodo's chest. Despite this, it seems to retain its original properties, which are as follows:

1. The stone can be used as a means through which to channel magic. Many Archmages, during their training years, used pieces broken off of the stone to amplify magic with which they were not comfortable using in times of need. They would also use it for its second notable trait.

2. The stone can partially absorb magic, and if worn or taken into one's being, it can allow for the use of said magic when adrenaline is present. Depending on the spell being mimicked in this fashion, the stone can reduce the time it takes to master that particular form of magic by days, months, years, or even decades. This is not exclusive to combat magic, but expands to all magic observed by the user.

3. The stone, while still containing its essence, cannot be totally destroyed by any means, magical or not. It can be shattered into pieces, but as long as one piece remains, its essence will not be lost. While merged with a being, the stone will strive to repair itself, and will consider that being a part of itself.

As such, one can gather that Rodo is your typical Blue Mage with a little bit of an advantage, and a hard one to kill at that. Still, his 'youth' also makes him a bit forgetful, clumsy, and an easy target from time to time, made no better by the fact he wasn't allowed to leave the castle at any time since his capture...

Behavior

Rodo has two primary mindsets used typically when in the chat. This may be the area you really need to pay attention to if you're skimming, as it indicates how exactly he'll behave depending on the scenario or the mood of the player.

Nymphomaniac Rodo: Somewhat mentally warped due to years of sexual use and abuse, this Rodo is enthralled with whatever feels good and often throws caution to the wind. This is often referred to as his 'less canon' behavior by the player, though it is more commonly used in casual play, and can often be indicated by his knack to cuddle excessively, groping, and other behaviors relying on physical contact. This is also the more likely behavior for when he's acting as willing prey.

Studious Rodo: The player refers to this as Rodo's more canon mindset, though it is used only on occasion and typically gives way to the prior nature given the nature of this place. The reason this is referred as such is that Rodo's original backstory prior to becoming a character on the chat involved him studying to assume his father's place as Archmage. This Rodo is fascinated with most varieties of magic and typically spends his time studying or meditating. He's also FAR more likely to defend himself, at least initially.

Update: As per the chat reboot, Yami No Rodo is no longer a separate entity from Rodo. If enough negative energy is absorbed by the crystal, Rodo will start showing darker traits. Just as well, he is not morally 'good' outright anymore, and falls more in the bounds between Chaotic and Lawful neutral, though not in the realm of True Neutral.

WARNING: If player notes that he is tired, he may have a tendency to pass out. Player is a bit of an insomniac and can't manage to keep a good sleeping schedule. You've been warned.

Never/Dislike Years in the palace have left Rodo a bit mentally strained, and have turned him into a creature of pleasure and habit. As such, he's very much tied to the thought of pleasure, whether outright sex or submitting to another's kinks of choice. That said, it doesn't have to be included outright, but Rodo will probably be receiving some pleasure one way or another from either subjecting a victim to predatory acts or being subjected himself.
