---Short story---
Riana is a young Egyptian priestess in training. The people believe that Riana is a good luck charm and they keep her as happy as they can. They bring her food, toys, and playmates but what she wants the most is to see the outside. that’s because she is kept inside and the only places she see’s is her sleeping chambers and her ceremonial shrine were she either sits and waits for the faro, studies her responsibilities of being a priestess, or play with the hired play mates. The faro comes in only a few times a month to see her. He doesn’t talk to her neither is she allowed to talk to him he just pets her with a cold almost ritualistic stroking with no affection for the supposed luck it would bring him. Because he could not bare any children. But the queen loved to come down a lot more then the king. She would send the guards out so she could talk with Riana. Since the faro could not bare any children the wife thought Riana as a daughter even though she wasn’t human. They loved each other and she would hold her in her lap they would sing quietly with each other. Unlike the faro’s touch the woman’s touch was filled with love and caring. But then one day as the two sang the king walked in found out about what she was they were doing and was infuriated thinking it had brought on a curse on him to not have children. He then had the woman killed. So now she is basically alone. But what even worse is unknown to her is on her 10th birthday part of her destiny of her being a priestess is that she will be sacrificed.
