--=What She Is, No Matter What=--

Ria Estellise is born to a normal scylla mother, Lyssi Estellise, and... well. She can't actually pronounce her father's true name (and it might have arcane significance when properly uttered, for all she knows), so when he isn't called dad, she calls him Scheiroth, from an /attempt/ at part of his name. As for /what/ he is, Ria's father is nothing less than a lower-level eldritch horror, a servitor for one of the Seven Unspeakable Nobles (...the highest ancient eldritch beings in the Realm of Bells across all its dimensions, of which the All-Devouring Pleasure is one - but he doesn't serve it.)

Naturally, this has Ramifications. Ria is, ostensibly, a normal scylla of her mother's variant on the surface. Four tentacles, humanlike from the hips up, naturally able to breathe underwater or on land, and possessed of both a vagina and a sort of anus-like orifice that bridges some of the anomalies of mixing human and octopus digestive systems (how, we will leave to the biologists), including being able to take in prey her human mouth's jaws would make her unable to.

But.

She also has... strangely unnecessary anatomy. She seems to breathe, but at times she can just stop for hours on end and not care. She definitely eats, but sometimes doesn't seem to produce any visible waste, or needs to eat far more than her body can fit or even /appears/ to contain afterwards. She sees things that either literally can't be seen by normal people, or require magical training to see. ...And sometimes her tentacles seem to be both more numerous and in different places than seems logical. Finally, Ria demonstrates a working knowledge of the warped magics of the eldritch things in her bloodline, distorting space, time, and sanity without any formal training, if she so wishes.

And that's not even considering what happens to her body when she succumbs to her dark urges...

--=The Feral Life=--

In this case, Ria lives out in the open ocean, in one of the outer parapets of the ancient-before-history-began sunken city her father and his kin call home. Her mother helps to raise her in ways her busy and horrifying father cannot, but his influence is felt on her more, and Lyssi isn't beyond that influence either. So she sometimes revels in the Dark Urge, she even willfully acts as a predator in the open ocean.

But she's still not absolute evil, it just isn't in her nature. She's just somewhat of an educated savage that just naturally assumes most creatures not obviously powerful, or touched by outer forces, could well be another meal or toy, rather than necessarily 'people'. But she's also curious and a bit cheery, as well as crafty and surprisingly well-read for someone who lives in the middle of the ocean. Who knows, she might even play along with the silly weak-bloods (like humans or landdwelling demihumans!) and go see the world above the waves!

...But that doesn't mean she won't eventually indulge carnivorous desires. ...Or carnal desires - often, lust is a province of those who serve the Seven Blasphemous Nobles, and their spawn are no different.

For gentler, more slice-of-life stories, or possibly to make her easier a mark as prey. Especially in a modern world, Ria is more likely to have grown up in a world where monsterfolk are accepted and assimilated into society, even eldritch things masquerading as common cephalopod-girls. She'd probably have been raised by her mother alone, in spite of her father's wishes, and live in a coastal city. She might even attend school! Also she'd wear clothes. Yanno. That's what civilized people do!

But the more predominantly human/city-folk lifestyle will prevent Ria from indulging her dark urges, even if sometimes an unlucky fish in the ocean suffers a terrible fate. Moving about on land is awkward, but as she's only partially sealife from her mother's side (as much as her father is also tentacled, keep in mind from the top what he is), so the other side gives her more tolerance of being out of water than normal. ...Still it gets her tentacles all grungy at times. Ew. Beyond that? She can actually be a sweet little girl, if a mite too precocious and a bit too knowledgeable about Right Creepy Things.

All the better to get along with peaceably, to have some silly schoolyard crush on... or, depending on the setting, to actually feed on, horrible abomination in the blood or not! But be wary, she's a perverse little thing due to her blood heritage~
