The_Amazon_Isles are mostly comprised of women, a minority portion of the population servers as “male” hermaphrodites. These individuals are very important for the tribes, as they are essential for impregnating the rest of the population. It is not uncommon for these individuals to have massive harems, and orgies between these harems occur quite frequently. These hermaphrodites are prized and are the amazons that are often kept as breeding slaves instead of sacrifices when captured. For most amazons mating with a hermaphrodite is rare. Most instead engage in casual pleasure between other female partners when in heat. One of the most important adaptations of the Amazon is their relatively quick gestation period of only 5 months as well as having a higher percentage of twins born when compared to other humans. So much so that more than 50% of Amazonian births have 2 or more children. These adaptations have proven essential to keeping their population numbers up in the predator heavy environment of the Isles. However, this more advanced and complex reproductive system has the adverse effect of making Amazons slow to sexually develop. Because of this they reach sexual maturity at 18 years of age. Children are raised by the tribe collective, and never leave the village. Because of this child mortality via predation is almost nonexistent. The Job an amazon will have is often decided for them by their elders based on the child’s talents. When they reach 18, they will begin to perform said job and will be allowed to venture out from the tribe.
