Once upon a time, there was a princess of a faraway kingdom. Some tellings of the tale say that this princess was, in fact, quite spoilt. One day, during one of her tantrums, she knocked over a visiting sorceress from a faraway land. (Other tellings of the tale say that the princess was actually kind and mature, and it was a simple accident.) Angered, a terrible curse was placed upon the unwitting princess. She would not be able to go to the afterlife, for with each death, her soul would simply reincarnate anew, into a new form, doomed to a terrible fate in each life. She could become anything, ranging from a person, an animal, a plant, or even an object. Nothing was out of the power of the cursed placed upon her, which would continue to take effect on her soul until the end of time, unless it was lifted.
