While Ratheon has more wealth than anyone in the Nexus he is not a wild animal. He is a cunning creature that is smarter than he looks. The key to his success is the Resurrector's Crystal, a magical item that has the power to give anyone the ability to be resurrected shortly after they die. Many of sought to claim it as their own but Ratheon has thought of a way to make sure none claim it: he shares its powers.
When Ratheon finds a being of great power, he attempts to strike a deal with them. If they assist him when he is under attack, then he will share his vast treasure with them and allow them to use the crystal's powers as well so that they do not need to fear being devoured and never coming back.
