Ranko_Koizumi

Ranko is at Permavore_Risk.

It's the end of the world and Ranko Koizumi does not care! Freed of the pressures and responsibilities of a stagnating and stifling society, Ranko is now free to do what she wants, when she wants, and how she wants. The fall of civilization has really been a liberating thing for her.

Yes, there are a few daily concerns now that Ranko didn't have to worry about before, such as dodging aliens, or dinosaurs, or zombies, or monsters, or whatever it is that brought about the apocalypse, but that's not too bad. She's got herself an AA-12 auto-shotgun, plenty of shells, and whole bunch of cute outfits to show off while she's helping stave off the end of the human race.

Ranko is cheerful, perky, and upbeat. She feels that just because it's the end of the world it's no reason to be all mopey and depressive about it. Oh, sure, bad things have happened and like ninety percent of the human race is dead... but there's still plenty of cute boys and girls out there for the taking.

Ranko functions as both a scout for the group of survivors she runs with. It's a 'thriving' community of several hundred people and it's the efforts of brave folks like Ranko that help keep the whole thing working. Of course, since Ranko often goes to malls on her scavenging runs, she's got plenty of time to spare to pick over the stores for fashionable outfits. Ranko's always been an image-conscious girl and not even Judgement Day has changed that.

Ranko has an obsession with cute things. She goes out of her way to collect things that most survivors would consider 'useless', such as teddy bears, designer clothing, posters of pop-idols. Dismissing those that call such things 'junk', Ranko instead sees them as 'priceless links to human culture' and considers their destruction tantamount to destroying art or burning books. After all, when so much has been lost, she argues, humanity should fight to hold on to whatever it can, no matter how silly or insignificant it may be.

Ranko is attentive and alert for danger and her trusty shotgun is rarely far from hand. But she is, ultimately, a solo operator in an extremely dangerous world. She's survived thus far on pluck, grit, and little bit of luck, but there's no telling when her luck will run out... or what will happen to her cheerful and optimistic attitude if she's truly backed into a corner.
