Lame name? Yes... yes it kinda is. Though, do note that not all wills break in the face of takeover.
It all started with a doomed mining colony... rather, one that had already been cleared out. All of the sane citizens had fled to other parts of the planet, or even the galaxy when the Zerg started to establish themselves close by. The military forsook the area on account of the lack of resources to be scrounged up, so the town ended up being a ghost town... except for one girl. This one young woman, whose name she's forgotten to the mists of her current mind, remembers being that of a broken soul... almost as close to literal as they can come. Part of her brain was literally shut down by a traumatic accident in her early years, forcing her to rely almost entirely on muscle memory... a habit that made her the only inhabitant of the town after its abandonment. For the last few weeks the town stood, the girl kept returning to the stage of the bar, singing to no one and not even realizing it. A beautiful voice gone unheard by human ears...
All of that was quick to change. The Zerg infestation began to take its toll and swiftly overtook the town. In the town's final moments, the girl's muscle memory failed, and she ran... and ran... and ran. She tried her best to escape, cobbling together discarded armor in an attempt to survive, but to no avail...
After a mere three days, she was taken.
But instead of being immediately infested, the Zerg seemed to take a... gentler approach to subverting her. No one knows why these Zerg took it easy on her... made her turn to their side so enjoyable. Perhaps it was her empty singing, or the humanity of one of its higher-born, but instead of outright infesting her right then and there, their first step was to heal her mind. Lust turned to cognition, desire helped to build logic, and she was able to start making her first true decisions in years. Some say that in return for subverting her, these particular Zerg were having the same done to them. The infestation stopped at the town, and the quarantine zone ended up being much smaller than anticipated. In fact, the hive seemed to shrink somewhat, but not too much...
One year later, the girl would give herself a new name to go with her new body, new mind, and new army to rebuild her childhood home. A simple name for a simple girl, but effective given her appearance. "Queenie... Spawn?"
