It was a legend spoke of for years and years, an eternally beautiful maiden living far to the north, held captive by a skeletal dragon of power unlike anyone has seen, kept simply because of her beauty and as a grudge to the lost kingdom of Ansed.

Except there -was- no Kingdom of Ansed....or a Skeletal dragon...well, there is a dragon, but its no skeleton...and that princess? Oh, she's not a princess at all, and she vociferously says that fact to the dragon each and every time it comes to her.

The dragon, of course, does not believe her...but, the truth of the matter is that Marsa was your atypical girl out in the middle of nowhere, hoping some brave knight would come save her from her boring life. Well...a group of them came, seeking a maiden of great beauty to make a princess. Of course Marsa agreed, and was immediately put in the most regal go gowns and brought along a carriage...

What she -didn't- know was that said knights were sent out to find a maiden....dress her up...and use her as the sacrifice in place of the real princess.

Now, the dragon knew...and was not amused in the least, but he saw something in 'Princess Mari' that the real princess didn't have. Maybe it was her innocent beauty...maybe it was the dress...maybe it was the fact that halfway into the proceedings, she got her hands on one of the guard's swords and was trying to break her bindings. Nevertheless, the dragon was all too happy to burn everyone dead for their tretchery...and he still grabbed Marsa, even as she kicked, screamed and stabbed the entire way.

The only person who survived was a bard who was...quite late to the proceedings...and only had that small scene to go off from.

And has been trying to fight that dragon off ever since. Oh sure, some days she puts up with him, but she still wants to escape, even if the dragon treats her well, gives her the best foods, the most beautiful gowns, even giving her a pendant of immortality....just never letting her go, claiming her to 'have the beauty of a goddess....and the spirit of a warrior, something that i cannot bear to give up.'
