There is a place in this universe, most odd. Life there can be brutally difficult, and is rarely easy. It is untamed, and extremely hostile to those that might try. Allowing those that would take from others by force to rise while those that might think to do for others are torn to bits. The the fauna tend to want little more than to reduce eachother to smaller pieces for eating, and the flora are toxic and barbed and bitter or entirely tasteless, assuming that they aren't trying to catch and eat the fauna too... Everything that lives originates there can be said to be hostile and a threat to be taken seriously regardless of how well equipped one might think they are, as the land and weather themselves seem to rise up to destroy anything unnatural... It is odd though for the fact that one might find creatures or objects from nearly any other world here, typically dead or destroyed, but here all the same. It is what some have come to call a portal world, a place that calls to other worlds and planes of existence, and allows instantaneous travel to itself...
Yet within all this violence and destruction there exists a place where those who seek to make something of themselves and the world in which they live can do so. A place free of many problems that plague other civilizations. Where many can tame their worlds and become complacent and soft to the world around them, here... tough...smart...strong. These things are just words. The world doesn't deal in words. So there are things one must have to survive in this little patch of living hell.

Through the many years it has existed this settlement has been controlled by many different folk, and all of them found this fact to be true in one way or another, and the place has been all but raized on multiple occasions. It is a place for those of any walk of life, a place where you will be accepted for who you are, not what you are or what you've done.
A place, called Port Anhai.
It sits on a gently sloping penensula spreading to meet the nearby forests and hills with a high slone wall, atop which armed watch towers are always manned. The powerful weapons and sensors along the docks are also constanly manned, though fewer threats emerge from the ocean. The frontier settlement of Anhai has at its center a towering space port, which in all honesty is probably the reason it has seen as much success as it has, aside from the fact that the world is visited nearly daily by Trans-dimensional travellers. Goods and serveces from many space faring worlds can be found here, from simple restraunts to extremely speciallized parts for the electronics of your choice. Some of the best of the best live here, pioneering their way into history with new medicines or technologies.
Even as the world around it might be a sort of living hell, Port Anhai itself has become quite the place to make a living, to feel appreciated, and maybe even needed.
The weather there can hit each side of the extreme during various times of year, but normally it is fairly mild and easily tolerable.
