Living a 'normal' life as a Gorgon isn't easy, Phaidra can attest to that for sure.
She learned a hard lesson at around eight, when her 'powers' as it were developed-and she turned a teacher, and over half of her class to solid, pure stone.
Eye contact became a deathwish for anyone who dared meet her gaze, maintained for just a second was enough for someone to have their legs turn to stone, a side of their face-it varied from person to person. But one thing was for certain, she couldn't go around like that anymore. This simple problem was solved with a blindfold tied around her ears. Since the media blew the class turning way out of proportion (as her saliva cures it-with a lot of difficulty and immense amounts of coating.) it became law for her to wear it at all times. Even when she went to sleep.
As such, her eyes didn't...develop very well. Without it she's immensely sensitive to bright lights, and really, her eyesight is really just as a good as a snakes at this point. But vibrations and hearing are her strong suits now.
For her compliance with this law she of course gets compensated because..theres not really any proper jobs she can do as a large snake woman who's blind. Machinery? she risks her fingers, she can't paint or draw. Modeling would be awkward. You get the picture!
As she developed and grew, she wasn't really treated as a 'monster' or bullied much, she was a black sheep though, as she grew to a rather large size and typically took up a lot of space. She had very few friends, but she had friends nonetheless.
She could never pick up on social cues since..she's essentially blind now. No facial expressions, no twitch of the hand, no shiver. But she smelt hormonal and pheromone changes at the very least. She could tell when someone was sad, nervous, angry...and whatnot.
As a result though, with friends she's fairly clingy and nervous that she'll lose them, constantly coiling around them for physical relief and stress related reasons. She's very affectionate physically, and due to her nervous nature she's easily peer pressured-save for things like taking off her blindfold. She's a tad reserved in making new friends though-have to be cautious and all. Don't want another incident to happen...
Since I lack a proper image at the moment, she's aronund 32 feet long, Golden scales, auburn hair and mildly tanned skin. Long, straight hair that is shoulder length. Breast wise she's a small B, and is generallys lender in her human form save for the hips and midde, little thicker around there but not plump by any means.
She can fit in medieval settings easily. Futuristic settings are eh, her current setting is modern.
