A 'doll' is defined as a model of a human being, often on a smaller scale than real life. But even minimal research into these small representations of people will reveal that they are also used in more magical applications, like the poppet or nkisi or voodoo dolls. These demonstrate the negative aspects of magical dolls, but there are positive ones, manifested through the imagination of children, so innocent and creative, for whom dolls are often friends and companions. Whether an old story like Raggedy Ann or Pinocchio, or something more contemporary, like Toy Story, the idea of a living toy is readily accepted by most kids and even some teens.

And yet, if it were to happen to you, how would you react? Meet Aimee, a doll crafted in France (with a humorous yet adorable French accent), who has a habit of coming to life. She's a common enough gift for children, but one never knows when an old storage box of long-abandoned toys will start making strange noises as one of its inhabitants grows restless of being ignored. This little artificial girl can come to life for a variety of reasons, ranging from the heartfelt wish of a lonely child, to the unfortunate need for companionship of a child whose parents are going through a divorce, or even something as random as simple happenstance, where one day the doll is dead and quiet, and the next alive and moving! The possibilities are truly endless.
