Personality

A bit quiet, but amicable enough. She keeps herself isolated because of the reactions people tend to have to an 11 foot tall sea creature. Oftentimes she'll find someone isolated and kidnap them away back to her undersea lair, which is a sort of subsea cave with enough clear space to keep a land-dweller alive and comfortable enough for a short time. Oceanna will generally converse with them a bit, might engage in other activities, but usually the encounter ends fatally for her guests. A big girl like her has got to eat, right?

Background

Explorers of far-off planets very often bring back samples of genetic material, eggs, and other such biomass from alien creatures for research purposes. One such sample, concealed from the corporation in charge was smuggled back to known space and made its way first to the black market and from there on to a genetic research company. They knew little about the species that it had come from, but were eager to begin experimentation regardless. A bit of damage to the genetic structure had to be repaired if they were going to actually create a viable source of anything beyond lab-produced tissues, which meant hybridizing it with anything that was able to help the process along. After months of hard work, they finally had a life-form that was viable for reconstruction, and were in the preliminary stages of actually raising the hybrid creature to term when a leak caused a government raid of the facility. With little resistance, all projects and research were taken, with a few exceptions. Namely the live specimens, which managed to escape out into the ocean.

A few years later scattered reports of sea monsters started to crop up in the region. A few folks gone missing, but search parties find no traces of them. The usual sort of stuff. Obviously something has taken to lurking in the deep. Whatever it might be is anyone's guess.
