Some children have a hard time growing up. Noriko Asamu... was not one of those children. There was a little hardship, of course. Her father died when she was five, but she was too young to really remember him. Her mother quickly remarried (thinking of her child) and suddenly, Noriko found herself with a younger half-sister. Sadly, Noriko did not take kindly to 'that girl' whom competed with her for mommy's attentions. Noriko and Setsuko Asamu did not much get along.
Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that Noriko did not get along with Setsuko, whom followed her older step-sister around like a puppy, desperate for her affection and attention. Noriko would treat her step-sister wickedly, for children can be so thoughtlessly cruel to one another, and Setsuko had a difficult life growing up. Noriko's dominance would always be in little things, however. Small put-downs or backhanded compliments. Giving her the unwanted tasks when they did chores, or the unpopular roles when they played games. Noriko always took the best and made Setsuko take the worst in everything they did together... and they did most everything together. In particular, Noriko's favorite thing to do was to steal the snacks from her step-sister's lunch. In fact, Noriko took quite a lot of food from Setsuko, which greatly contributed to her pudginess, while it wasn't uncommon for Setsuko to go to bed hungry.
And then, one day, tragedy struck. The two girls were on a camping trip in the late fall with some friends. Setsuko fell down a hole in the ground and the other girls, laughing, just left her there down there, making fun of her futile attempts to climb back out. They left her there, callously, overnight. But what they didn't have was the weather report. The rain was rediculously heavy and the girls sought shelter in a cave, staying there for days and forgetting entirely about the trapped Setsuko. By the time the weather had cleared and they returned for the younger girl, she had starved to death, desperately trying to save herself.
The betrayal was the final straw. Furious over her death at the hands of one she loved as a sister, Sesuko's spirit did not leave this world as it should have. The painful manner of her death drove her to thoughts of revenge and so she possessed her step-sister's hair, transforming the girl into a futakuchi-onna... a female youkai with a second mouth in the back of it's head, that can use it's hair like tentacles! Noriko has no control over her hair, however, nor of her new mouth. There was nothing she could do but stand there and cry, horrified, as her step-sister forced her to eat every single one of her friends, swallowing them with the demonic mouth in the back of her head!
Noriko never went home. Since that day, she's been roaming the countryside, trying to scavenge food and avoid human contact because she's become 'a freak'. And she is dreadfully hungry, because Setsuko tries to eat all of the food that Noriko comes across in cruel mockery of the treatment that she herself received for years. Only when her hair takes a human life does Noriko feel any sort of satiation anymore, and she's slowly being driven towards madness as part of her step-sister's revenge from beyond the grave.
