Nonowe is a Scholar by trade, though one would hardly consider her a Scholar by design. She's far more enamored with the thrill of discovery that she rarely provides concrete rationale to back her findings. Somehow the tradition of having a knowledgeable background in one's field had escaped her, somehow getting by with having a only a partial or rudimentary understanding of the things she was researching ( some say her family's wealth allowed her to get by when her instructors would have walked out on her ). While she had a board range of subjects she has studied, she lacks the greater comprehension that Scholar should possess, making her level of knowledge more on a trivial level. Her scientific methods have very little basis in research and lore, mostly focused around a haphazard trial and error system in hopes of achieving some impressive results in her half baked experiments. Most institutions wanted nothing to do with her, any conclusions she came to in her field studies were barely supported by her non sequitur notes and data. Her results are simply the work of countless attempts and a keen insight that's reinforced by dumb luck that the conditions of her experiments allowed her to make any breakthroughs at all.

She was born into a comfortable lifestyle in the mercantile city of Ul'dah, with a family that had something of a learned background. Her mother being a dye maker that had an understanding of chemicals to produce specific shade of color and her father a watchmaker who knew a thing or two about physics and engineering. She was dead set early on in being a scholar, wanting to learn about all sorts of fascinating subjects but she didn't have the focus to commit to any in depth learning, almost always moving from one area of knowledge to another, quickly losing interest and picking it back up again at a later date. It was no small wonder that she had enough of an intuition and a knack for picking up concepts *just* enough to get a barely passing grade in any of her studies. When she was apprenticing under other scholars, many had wished they had an interpreter on board to translate jumbled up notes and explanations regarding her work. One of her superiors suggested she put that intuition of hers to use and take up some lessons on being a battle scholar. She figured it would be useful when doing work out in the field, and to everyone's surprise she was quite talented at it, though hardly through the use of tried and true methods of strategy and more along the lines of a 'Warrior's Instinct' in knowing what to do at the right time. She also is under the impression her intuition also extends to games of chance, which she'll often engage in as a pass time.

Her personality is almost as difficult to deal with as her methodology ( or lack thereof ). She's grown rather hostile in regards to people haveing been constantly critiquing her way of doing things, stating she's simply a non-conformist when it comes to higher learning. She's usually only a breath away from adopting an irritated demeanor, but much of the time she manages to keep an even temper due to her mother enforcing early on that she act refined even when others were ridiculing her. "Simply smile more when that anger wells up, and the more prudent among them will yield." What was she was told, and that false smile has won her many arguments where she would have to concede to others. Unfortunately she has a bit of a swelled head about herself regarding her work as a Scholar, claiming her 'knowledge' is what puts her in the right in any conflict with somebody of a 'non-academic background' ( which is probably the absolute height of her sanctimonious hypocrisy ), or she'll simply brush off others as not having the means to grasp the nature of her work and be uncommunicative with them. Still she tries to pretend to be the bigger person when she can, trying to be understanding and forgiving of slights directed at her and retain a level of grace so she does not come off as somebody ill mannered.

Her work takes her far and wide, well outside of world of Hydaelyn, making observations and taking notes on things she might think are important. Sometimes she'll attempt to get closer than good judgement would dictate in order to study or collect samples from dangerous creature. She also isn't above using micros in her experiments and research, not seeing them as people and more along the lines of insects. Sometimes her research calls for ingesting them or subjecting them to 'stress tests' to see what sort of effects will occur.
