Nidhogg is a killing machine given human shape (or sometimes not-so-human), a literal army of one with mental instability who can lay waste to entire hosts of brave knights or crack troops all on his own. His kind is the product of man's arrogant belief that they could conquer the power of Gods through science and magic. In essence they did, for a short time, but then it all went horribly wrong.

There isn't very much to say about the man before he became Nidhogg because no one really knows; whether he was a kind-hearted soldier or a violent criminal turned test subject or even just an organism grown in a test tube. Any file regarding that information has tragically been lost or perhaps it's hidden somewhere in some clandestine location. Not that it really matters because the man he is now, the being he has become, is a walking time bomb of uncontrolled rage and unimaginable power. He may act calm from time to time but there's no guarantee that it'll last and no telling when it'll end.

Although he can hardly be called sane, Nidhogg is not just some freak force of nature without purpose. He most certainly has that! For one reason or another he has chosen to hunt certain members of his kind in an always changing game of cat and mouse. Of course, considering their nature, this is no easy task especially as the last vestiges of his mind fall into ruin (and there wasn't really much left to begin with). That is why he eagerly finds those with great power or at least the potential: to take what is theirs for his own. Even if it only gives him a small edge, even if the innocent die, he will gladly plunge a city in blood if it means his goal is just a little closer.

Weapons
Nidhogg is not known to use weapons all that much and when he does, it usually is something improvised like a metal girder or block of concrete. There are, however, two weapons he sometimes resorts:

The death sword "Malice Striker" - Arguably an extension of Nidhogg, this weapon was supposedly forged from his own flesh. It is a long, slender two-handed sword of black metal with red designs engraved in it.

M61 Vulcan 20mm Cannon - The weapon itself probably isn't magical in any way and neither is the ammunition, but it is depleted uranium and enough of it generally hurts just about anything.


Abilities
Considering what he is, it's only natural that he posses a myriad arsenal of offensive and defensive abilities from the humble energy blast to much more complicated geomantic spells. Certainly not all are worth listing but there are a number of which that do stand out.

"Soul Eater" - Perhaps the most important and infamous ability which all the First Generation of the Nephilim Project possess (translation: requires lengthy explanation). It is the source of their great strength and it is what allows their already burgeoning list of powers to grow. When a person or object is devoured, it is not only consumed but broken down and integrated or absorbed into Nidhogg. Skills and techniques can be learned in this way, whether by eating a part of a person or the whole person (which would clearly be more effective and yield more). However, it doesn't end there; memories and even the "soul" are absorbed and added to a sort of collective or gestalt subconscious. Each is self-aware and aware of every other presence but impotent in that none can seize control from Nidhogg . That's not to say they cannot have some kind of influence; it's partly the reason why all the First Generation went insane. After all, the voices of so many anguished victims echoing in a person's head would be enough to drive anyone crazy.


Soul Resonance - An evolution of Soul Eater, the provenance of this power is unknown. It was awakened in Nidhogg by another subject of the Nephilim project, an effort to save the last shreds of his sanity and the world in the process. Resonance allows Nidhogg to absorb a woman without permanently deconstructing her mind and body. Her presence will inspire stability in both his mind and in the normally cantankerous souls trapped inside him. In return, she gains access to his vast power and effectively becomes a copilot of his monstrous body. The effectiveness is determined by the qualities of the woman and how well she can synchronize with him. Greater synchronization means greater balance and power. At its higher levels, it allows Nidhogg to undergo a transformation unique to their pairing which is influenced by her qualities in some way. However, anything but a perfect synchronization means there's a limit to the time a woman can remain inside him otherwise she runs the risk of being unconditionally devoured. (The use of this power is recommended for an anti-hero/hero version of Nidhogg).


Soul Gate - A fundamental ability of the Nephilim, the details vary from individual to individual. In many cases, it allows the Nephilim to assume the shape of a devoured soul. Some can create constructs through it but even rarer is the ability to summon up these souls as semi-autonomous agents.
