Nereyda lives in a lake. Like the creature from the black lagoon, or the loch ness monster! Rather, she is the Lake! She can even take the form of water, if she pleases. Most bodies of water have some sort of guardian spirit, and Nereyda is one of those. She did a good job for a long time. The creatures within and all the nature around it prospered. She's a carefree, fun loving water woman, who loves her little corner of the forest deeply. However, she's not so fond of humans. She used to be, but over the last two hundred years, she's grown angry with most of them. She used to be more playful. She'd leave the lake to speak with visitors, play games with passersby, and even let people swim around her watery form. They weren't grateful, and soon, greed overtook the people she once loved.

So Nereyda protected her lake, forming pools of quicksand, controlling plants and otherwise scaring off trespassers... but to no avail.

The Spirit's home was eventually polluted with toxic waste from a nearby factory, causing her great agony. she was unable to become flesh, only to suffer as a tarry black imitation of herself. She was powerless to stop it and had gone mad from the horrid poison. Her healing waters now sought to take the life from others. Nereyda had sucked the life from the surrounding area, life that she had once given. She sought to to take revenge on the humans who had done this to her. Claire_Chambers was sent to investigate, and the caring scientist quickly cleaned up her spring. The guardian was highly distrusting and decided to keep Claire as part of her revenge. The two quickly hit it off. In Nereyda's warm, healing belly, she told her about all that she had learned. The nymph was fascinated, and even tried making the tea Claire was carrying. It was as delicious as the girl was adorable. The nymph soon let her go, and left the spring. She moved in with Claire, and now the two live together happily.

Nereyda does return to her Lake quite often, though she has passed ownership to another spirit, and adores teasing those who trespass in her old home. Her life with Claire has brightened her up a little bit. Her dislike of humans persists, but she gives them much more of a chance now, and she deals with her anger through non-fatal means. Claire doesn't like it, but the spirit often tries get extra icky as a punishment. Give the humans a taste of pollution...

Nereyda travels with Claire on all her adventures, helping clean up the locales along the way. She's quite fun, honestly... If ya don't mind the smell of fish.

Abilities:
Nereyda's water is magical, and is very much capable of healing people.
She is nearly indestructable, though a strong enough blow will scatter her into water.
She can form up around people from a puddle.
Her insides are capable of cleaning up water... provided its not TOO filthy.
While usually cool and 'cold blooded', she can heat up hot enough to burn people, though she uses this to make tea and hot chocolate instead!
She can exert pressure on those within her watery body, but usually enjoys the feelings of flesh.
She's a fish when outside the water. She can get pretty gross...
Nereyda's insides are as cozy and warm or as slimy and disgusting as she'd like.
She can spit out thick, gluey goop if she wants, generating it in her gut at will.
Even as water, her body's surface tension and currents are completely within her control. Don't expect to get out if she eats ya!
The nymph can grow much much larger if she is in contact with water!
She can sink into dirt to become mud. Sticky, slimy, and still harmless.
