Ah, yes. Pocket Monsters, or 'Pokémon' for the westernized among you. Adorable little fluffy things that are stuffed in mass-produced balls and used by bratty kids to compete for little metal badges.
'course, there's more to it. That's all they're allowed to give you on kids shows. No world is as happy-go-lucky as it may be portrayed on television.
Nameru's a good example. She's a Mawile, for those who are unfamiliar with the species... though she's a bit of an extraordinary example for her kind. She's much larger than most members of her species, she's able to speak haltingly, and she's horrifically intelligent for what most people consider to be a wild animal.
She's also worryingly fascinated with humans. Chalk it up to a military medic saving her life once after she was injured, but she's been in love with humanity ever since. She's always poking around houses and stores, collecting trinkets... oh, and did we mention gobbling folks? She's so obsessed with humans that she can't help but swallow them down! Of course, that tongue of hers is super-hard to resist... especially since she knows how to use it!
Being seduced and eaten by a little monster is difficult for most to swallow (pun might've been intended) but Nameru doesn't care. She knows what the boys like, in particular. ^^
