A profile about families who use magic. Not just any magic, though. This isn't your "wave a wand and poof" or "snap your fingers" kind of magic. For this family, they're all about tradition and their magic shows this. However, before we get into that, let's talk about the family itself first.

This family is basically full of a bunch of witches, no males can wield their magic. The difference also includes how they treat their men. They aren't USUALLY cruel or sadistic to their fathers, brothers and cousins. In fact, they are generally very protective of them. However, because they aren't witches like them, they are considered interchangeable in regards to...certain needs and desires.

In terms of body types, the witches of these families are thick, full-figured and proud of it! This is due to the fact that almost all of them use lots of energy when wielding their magic and thus require being big eaters in order to compensate for it. They have long since adapted to it and the males of the family hardly object.

Generally, the individual family groups are not much bigger than the mother, her husband and a couple of daughters, though they don't mind if it gets bigger than that. However, they all keep in touch, so they have rather vast extended families.

Types of magic

One thing that separates these witches from ones on TV, is the fact that their magic isn't "zap and poof". They go the more traditional arcane route. As in, stuff like elaborate rituals and handbrewed potions. Interestingly, they adapted to the current era and use Post-Modern Magic like keeping recipes on laptops and such. Also, compared to older eras, they can find certain ingredients much easier, even just walking into a store and buying them.

Traditions

Magic Sellers: The various family branches have stores where they sell alchemic potions or voodoo charms or whatever kind of magical object they make. After all, they need to make money somehow.
Assistants: Men are the assistants in the family. Even though they can't do magic, they are trained in gathering the material and helping with the other prep work. Whether they are part of the ritual or merely acting as extra hands in the lab, they do it.
Coming of Age Rituals: For the women, they must show mastery of the family's magic style by performing a specific ritual. What it is, depends on the magic style.
Treatment of Herms: While rare among the family, Hermaphrodites are accepted and generally treated as female for most purposes.

Role Play Ideas

Rejection Revenge: A male of the Family gets humiliatingly rejected by a non-Family girl. The females of the Family discover this and use magic to pay her back.
No Sleeping In: It's not a school day, so a Family boy wants to sleep in. Too bad the women of the Family have other plans that require his assistance.
