Backstory:

A child of the city, Merridew, or Merry, has grown up in comfortable wealth with his parents.

Ever the daydreamer Merry often finds himself lost and alone, having meandered through crowds away from his parents and to unknown corners of the sprawling city. To Merry, this only offers up prime opportunities for adventure and fun and so he often finds himself spending days away from home, blissfully ignorant of the torment this causes his parents.

He always finds his way home however, and so far the inhabitants of the big city have refrained from using Merry to satisfy their every desire; with him wandering off so often, he would be a perfect playtoy...or meal.
