Merlen

Prone to catastrophic magical mishapes and as clumsy as they come, Merlen Wulf is far from the ideal magi. Nevertheless like his father before him, and his father before him, the lad has begrudgingly taken up his family's legacy for the arcane. Once interned at The Grand Archives, Merlen has made a name for himself due to his routine antics and spectacular displays of irresponsibility and incompetence! However, his time in conventional academia was soon to come to a close, as he'd been taken on as an apprentice by the archlich Aurèlie Corriveau (NecromancerChan). Through her rigorous tutelage, Merlen would become an apprentice no-more, but a fully certified albeit overworked wizard! He'd also become an adjunct assistant for one Moonstalker, an exiled prince and yet another expert in the necromantic arts. Adding onto the list of chaotic and powerful entities he's friendly with, Merlen enterd a pact with the djinn Veitrein. Against his better judgement, he keeps the malevolent and mischievous spirit close as he hopes to use their contract for good. During his time studying underneath the archlich Merlen came to know he harbored a terrible power of as-of-yet unknown origin. It warps his mind, soul and on occasion his body into shadowy visages of inky, writhing tenticles and gnashing maws. Upon receiving his certification Merlen has made it his main goal to uncover what manner of horror he serves as a vessel for, and how best to purge it if neccessary. In his journey he became well acquainted with a young druid by the name of Saika_Briarknot. After an unfortunate encounter with Saika devouring the mage, Merlen eventually got his revenge and in doing so become infatuated. Now the two are almost inseparably entwined, sharing a very odd but very "friendly", mutual bond. That's all I've got so far, so consider the lore a WIP.
