An encyclopedia sits on a desk, opened to the Fairy Pichu entry. This is what it has to say about them.

Fairy Pichu: They're a rare subspecies of Pichu that are 1-1 1/2 tall with butterflylike wings on their back. They eat mostly berries and nuts and usually live alone from the day they're born, since after laying an egg, the mother and father abandon it to survive on its own. They're also considered a delicacy by many preds, so they've evolved the ability to reform after death. Despite this ability, most Fairy Pichus dislike being eaten. They're known to be pretty fearless, and as a result, their curiousity can get them into trouble sometimes.
When they evolve ijnto Fairy Pikachus, they get the ability to switch between being Fairy Pichus and Fairy Pikachus, which stand at around 2 1/2 inches tall. Once they evolve again into Fairy Raichus, which stand at an average of 5 inches tall, they get the ability to switch between the three forms at will. They generally live about 15-20 years, and reach adulthood at 2years of age.
