Mawgjin

Stalking, hunting, breeding, feeding...

Those are the basic instincts of a Mawgjin.
A creature that lives as a omnivore, a super predator capable of taking down prey many times it own size and devouring it. Either in a single meal or over the course of several months. Capable of breeding with other species have classified it as a parasitic creature, inserting both egg and sperm inside a host creature. Or possibly even a embryo that is left to grow on its own.

Studies of the creature have been abandoned by all but the most persistent of scientists, as it seems any and all other creatures as food or breeding host. There have only been a few exceptions through the years since it was first discovered on a near life-less planet. From which it spread to populated space via travellers or hiding away on ships. But the presence of a Mawgjin is not a death sentence to a planet, as the only serious infestation recorded through modern history was the Dark Star incident on the Alpha Omega outpost where attempts at taming the creature's power was attempted. But only ended in the extinction of the colony.

There are many genetic variations in the species, often traits of the host species can be seen in each individual beast, but they all carry similar basic features in appearance and function. A Mawgjin is quadrupled with a sinuous body and a long tail extending behind it, but capable of rising up and moving on its hind legs. The head has a softly rounded snout with a extendible lower jaw capable of splitting into mandibles and is worn upon a flexible neck, while a long sinuous tongue capable of ensnaring victims several yards away hides in the back of its throat. Lethargy skin adores it slender body, the colouration of the skin is often the most tell-tale sign of the host creature. Besides its four legs, a Mawgjin comes equipped with hidden tentacles along its sides and back, some sporting barded bone tips or clad in suction cups.
