A spirit of sorts. A guardian, a companion, a familiar more often than not. Typically taking the form of a small, winged black cat with blue eyes, Matthias is one of those unappreciated but very often important spirits of the universe. Typically, he finds himself working for/with important people for whatever reason. Like, you know, keeping them from blowing themselves up and what not.

See, normal people tend not to like Important People like witches, prophets, and the like. So, its helpful to have protection... buuuut.... its even better to make people important without them knowing they're important!

But even then, someone's gotta keep an eye on them. Make sure they don't do anything stupid. Keep them from blowing themselves up, and whatnot. You know, keeping them alive!

Enter Matthias. As a guardian, watcher, or messenger, he's one of the best. Most never suspect he's anything more than a friendly cat they keep meeting, or take in. It takes a really special kind of person to notice anything different about him.

Such a special person, though, would notice that this kitty is different. Normally, Matthias appears as a simple black cat with blue eyes, but to the right kind of person, his wings can be seen. And, if they notice them, they can interact with them...

And if they can do this, they're alright for him to talk to, and tell MORE things to. Simple, eh?

He DOES have a human form, but in that form his ears, tail, and wings are also hidden, unless seen(again by said special type of person). He can swap between forms seamlessly, too.

Also... don't be surprised if you find him in another form, apparently, or possessing something previously harmless for whatever reason. He IS a spirit after all.

Also. More powerful than he seems. Willing prey only, really. *shrugs* Deal with it.
