Matoi has arrived from the ORACLE fleet to brighten up your day!
This Matoi is one of infinite Matois, and, in this case, Matoi has found herself in the Nexus after being dispatched for a long-term observation mission. More to come when I feel like adding it! (Namely as I discover more about her by playing through PSO2's story.)
Matoi is a kind, loving, caring person, though she is rather shy, though she has recently gained a bit of confidence talking with other people.

Matoi is young human girl who is found weakened and unconscious on the planet Naberius by the Player Character. She has no memories and quickly takes to the Player Character as her main friend and confidant while recovering in the ARKS Medical Bay.
By Episode 2, her rehabilitation has progressed to the point where she begins combat training. In doing so she reveals an incredible photon capacity, to the point of being able to wield Clarissa, one of the uncontrollable Genesis Weapons usually restricted to the Council of Six. She even manages to cast Technics within an ARKS ship, a feat that is normally impossible. It is at this point she is called upon by Xion to aid her, alongside the Player Character. Towards the end of the Episode, Matoi's true identity is revealed: she is the legendary Clares Claes II, who disappeared ten years ago during a major Darker offensive against the ARKS. You travel back in time to that day, meeting and befriending her, only to witness her being stabbed by Persona. This releases a tremendous amount of corrupted Photons from Matoi's body, a force equivalent to The Profound Darkness that birthed the Darkers. However, she is able to save herself from being transformed by purging the corruption with the Clarissa, a process that inflicts great trauma upon her mind and body. She is then (accidentally) pulled to the future by Xiao, landing in the Naberius forest.
In Episode 3, Matoi officially joins the ARKS and joins the Player Character on an expedition to the Wutai planet of Harukotan, where a brewing feud between the Shironians and Kuronians gives her reason to suspect that someone may be manipulating events behind the scenes. At the climax of the episode, the Player Character is given a massive infusion of corrupted photons by Double in an attempt to awaken The Profound Darkness. However, Matoi pulls a Heroic Sacrifice by using the Clarissa to absorb the energy in your stead, transforming herself into an incarnation of The Profound Darkness. Though she insists on dying to complete her sacrifice, Persona uses the Clarissa to save her by extracting the corrupted photons and becoming The Profound Darkness instead.
Matoi is, quite possibly, the strongest Force (mage) of ARKS. Her proficiency in Techniques is second-to-none, specifically Dark and Light Techniques, however all Techniques will be listed below, along with any proficiency she shows with them. (NOTE: Despite proficiency with Dark and Light Techniques, it is assumed she has all techniques available to her.) She is also shown to be extremely powerful, breaking any weapon she picks up that is not her Clarissa.
Foie: A single, concentrated fireball that fires forward.
Gifoie: Two fireballs circle outwards from Matoi.
Rafoie: A fireball forms on the target, then explodes.
Safoie: An arc of fire extends out in front of Matoi.
Shifta: Generates a field that strengthens the offensive power of all allies within.
Nafoie: Matoi shoots a fireball into a spot that she indicates, setting the ground around the fireball ablaze.
Ilfoie: A technique that, when fully charged, calls down a massive meteor from the sky, smashing into her target.
Barta: A linear shot of ice that pierces through targets.
Gibarta: A cone of many icicles shoots from Matoi in front of her.
Rabarta: A circle of icicles forms around her, spinning and rising into an icy tornado.
Sabarta: Several icicles rain down on her target.
Deband: Generates a field that strengthens the defensive power of all allies within.
Nabarta: A stream of ice continually shoots out from Matoi.
Ilbarta: A technique that places a mark on the target, strengthening subsequent castings of Ilbarta, until the mark explodes.
Zonde: A bolt of lightning strikes the target from above.
Gizonde: A bolt of lightning shoots from Matoi to her target, before arcing to other targets nearby.
Razonde: Several bolts of lightning shoot from a cone that forms above Matoi.
Sazonde: A ball of lightning embeds itself in Matoi's target, erupting in several bursts of electricity if the target is struck by lightning.
Zondeel: The ground around Matoi is magnetized to Photonic concentrations, pulling enemies towards the center of the field.
Nazonde: A sphere of lightning erupts out of Matoi, doing severe damage to anything caught in the blast.
Ilzonde: Matoi turns into a bolt of lightning, shooting forward.
Zan: Matoi shoots out three blades of wind in front of her that extend out, then return to Matoi.
Gizan: Blades of wind shoot out around Matoi, before returning to her.
Razan: Wind shoots up from under the target, trapping them in a tornado.
Sazan: A whirlwind forms in front of Matoi, sucking enemies in and slicing them up.
Nazan: A concentrated blast of wind shoots directly in front of Matoi.
Zanverse: Forms a field that causes wind to strike enemies after being hit.
Ilzan: A sphere of wind blasts forward, pulling enemies into it as it travels.
Grants: Several blades of light strike the target. Matoi has been shown to be able to use this Technique to target many enemies at once with no drop in power.
Gigrants: Swords of light come out of Matoi, then spin, shredding enemies near her.
Ragrants: A beam of light shoots out, impaling a target. Matoi has been shown to be able to shoot multiple Ragrants out at once, as well as being able to pin a Dark Falz.
Resta: Generates a field that heals allies' wounds.
Anti: Generates a field that cures allies' status ailments.
Nagrants: Creates a sphere of light around Matoi that pushes enemies out.
Ilgrants: Several rays of light home in on Matoi's target. Matoi has been shown to fire many of these at once, to the point of causing a Dark Falz to explode.
Megid: A sphere of darkness pursues the target, then explodes.
Gimegid: Several rays of darkness impale the target from above.
Ramegid: Spheres of darkness rain down on the target.
Samegid: Three balls of darkness follow the target before exploding on contact with the target.
Megiverse: Creates a field of darkness that causes damage dealt to enemies to heal the attacking ally.
Namegid: A Technique with a long time to cast. It forms a glyph of darkness upon the target that grows more complex, before finally exploding, dealing catastrophic damage within the target.
Ilmegid: A hand of darkness shoots forward, rapidly pursuing the target, chasing multiple enemies.
Matoi, however, also has access to Compound Techniques, Techniques of multiple elements compressed into one. These techniques need to be charged by dealing damage with other Techniques
Zandion: A compound Technique of Lightning and Wind. Matoi sprouts wings composed of Lightning and Wind, before rocketing forward at tremendous speed, large bolts of lightning falling from wherever the tips of her wings touch. Both the lightning and Matoi's wings have a high chance of paralyzing the enemy.
Fomelgion: A compound Technique of Fire and Darkness. Matoi fires a thin, powerful laser of Fire and Darkness, hitting enemies hard if they are caught within. The beam has a high chance of burning anything it touches.
Baranstion: A compound Technique of Light and Ice. Matoi extends one blade of mixed Ice and Light from each hand, rushing forward before relentlessly slashing at the target, ending with a massive overhead slash that shatters both blades. These blades have a high chance of freezing the target.
