Marunomi was, obviously (because it's Nukey) a difficult Pokemon to train. She was given to Farrel, her former trainer because nobody else was up to the task. He managed to somehow earn her respect and her adoration, and when someone manages to become somebody that Maru likes, she is willing to do almost anything they ask of her; she would have fought anybody for her trainer. Eventually, after many, many victories together, their adventures ended; her trainer fell in love and wanted to settle down. At first, she wasn't satisfied with his choice of mate-- she was such a plain woman and she was intruding and Maru hated her. That is, until she finally saw how in love her trainer was. In this instance, she was no longer able to protest their union.
Eventually, her trainer married the girl and soon thereafter, she was pregnant. By this point, Marunomi had accepted the girl into her circle, and she was excited for the addition of the trainer's son. He was born and he was a sight to behold. Farrel officially retired and so too did Marunomi with him. She watched the boy grow up to be thoughtful and curious and generous and kind. A fine young man who went off on his own adventures with his own pokemon team. When that came to an end-- sooner than she would have expected, she'd note-- he spoke of dreams of starting his own sanctuary where Pokemon from all walks of life could come and be safe, be taken care of. It was so like him, she and his parents thought.
Marunomi was sent to be the third to live in this home for pokemon and is now very thoroughly enjoying her retirement whilst being able to look over her beloved trainer's legacy.
