Marina_Gardevoir

Marina is a Gardevoir that becomes more and more human-like as she consumes human beings. Now with that bit of information out of the way, we can get to know her as she began.

The first thing she could remember is hatching from her egg within the basket on a bicycle, she stared at the face of the human who had been riding it, examining his look of satisfaction as he pointed a device her way. However, after a short moment his expression turned to one of disappointment, muttering something about "bad IVs" before immediately biking to the nearest Pokémon Center, where she was then released into the wild to be forgotten.

It was quite rough surviving alone as a Ralts in the untamed wilderness, especially how her psychic abilities turned out to be quite weak. But by some stroke of luck she had managed to survive, eventually growing into a Gardevoir, her life still a constant struggle. Eventually, a trainer had stumbled upon her, a young, determined lass with a bit of a mean streak. She fought as well as she could against the female trainer's pokémon, but was overwhelmed easily by the well trained group, and captured.

It was quite a welcome change in her life, really, she no longer had to worry about simple survival, only making sure she kept her trainer pleased enough to keep her around. But it didn't take long until her trainer had realized that she was essentially a waste of a team "slot", but instead of opting to release her into the wild through a Pokémon Center's services, she chose to release her personally, into a nearby forest.

Marina, as she was named by the trainer, wasn't pleased at all over the situation, she wanted to fight this fate, prove to her that she wasn't worthless, that she damn well had a spot on her team. At that point, some odd instinct was telling her to use her powers in an equally odd manner, and she obeyed, turning back toward the trainer, focusing all the power she had on her, unknowing of the consequences.

To her surprise, something did happen, it was at that moment that the trainer's clothes and equipment all fell down to the ground, no longer having a body to cling to. Marina was rather scared, wondering where her ex-trainer had gone until she heard faint screaming from within the pile. Investigating, Marina found the girl, shrunk to the size of her palm as she screamed curses at the Gardevoir, demanding for this to be undone.

Marina would certainly not oblige, instead opting to follow her next instinct. After all, her life in the wilds have taught her one thing indeed, eat all that you could to survive. She brought the struggling trainer to her mouth and popped her inside, she found the taste pleasant but decided not to delay things as she swallowed the shrunken girl down. The lass squirmed all the way down to the stomach, which gurgled in a satisfying manner as it processed the meal within. The expenditure of that ability left it's toll on Marina's body, as she soon began began to feel quite woozy, so she immediately abandoned the trainer's fallen equipment to hide and find a place to rest.

After retreating from the scene and taking a long rest to digest her meal, she woke up to quite a surprise, she felt that changes occurred within her body after it absorbed her human meal. Small, human-like breasts began developing on her chest, and she felt her strength rising, her body changing to become more like a human's. Overall, she rather liked the changes, and sought to continue the process.

Experimenting with her shrinking ability, she found out that she was only capable of performing sparingly as it left her feeling tired immediately after performing it. She also found out that she was able to restore the size of her victim, although doing such also uses the same amount of her energy. Growing more familiar with her unique ability, she would continue ambushing and devouring trainers, growing more and more human-like with every one. Wandering the lands as she went about her days, she chose not to remain in one place for too long, as too many disappearances in one area would rouse suspicion.

Eventually she would wander out to where pokémon, along with trainers, gyms, and other services were less common, traveling out of the known regions and into new civilizations, full of new sights and wonders. Where her travels will take her next? Who knows.

Despite her rocky upbringing, she's rather kind to those she doesn't consider to be her next meal, although she's generally distrusting around pokémon trainers. Simply because she's rarely encountered one that didn't want her around simply to win battles, and abandoned or mistreated her when they discovered that she's not very effective. That being said, she's very comfortable around those she considers her friends, so long as they're okay with her eating habits.

Regarding her powers, they're actually quite weak for her species, so she's rather ineffective in fights, but she can still lift small objects telekinetically, and communicate with other humanoids with telepathy. She can also levitate short distances if she focuses, however, overuse of her powers will leave her quite exhausted, so she prefers to manipulate objects through the simpler, physical means.

About her shrinking ability specifically, other than what's stated above. She needs a moment of focusing to pull it off, meaning if her intended victim is aware of what she's trying to do, he/she has a good chance of striking back at her to break her concentration. Putting a good solid object between her and her target will also work, although the failure won't exhaust her, the projected energies returning to her after they collide with something the ability can't affect. Dodging is almost out of the question, as the energies track the target at a very high speed, so if somehow one is fast enough to dodge it, they would have already taken cover or interrupted her way beforehand.

What counts as a good, solid object? Just about everything that it wouldn't have a method of passing through, for example, it will penetrate normal clothes, a bush, grating, or similar barrier. but a good, solid tree, a wall, or heck, a wooden board will stop the effect, assuming they're all large enough to completely block her vision of the target.

When she's around the 1-25 meals range, she's to be exclusively used for pokémon-centric settings, although past that point, she's more than welcome to be included in just about any setting that an anthro pokémon would fit in. Beyond 100 and she's nearly indistinguishable from a human, and thus able to reasonably fit in wherever they may be.

When around 85 or higher meals, she can easily pass off as human, albeit one with odd hair and skin coloration, so she usually claims to be human when going around cities in which there are mostly human populations, or during situations in which it clearly benefits her. When asked about the coloration, she'll claim she dyed her hair that way, and painted her skin white if it's not yet changed color. Funnily enough, she did enter as a Gardevoir into a pokémon costume contest at a convention. She came in eighth place.
