Marila

Description

Marila is a cacomistle, otherwise known as a ringtail or a miner’s cat: a lithe, slinky form with a feline cast, although her muzzle is a little longer than a cat’s. Its shape, combined with her tawny fur color and particularly the white rings around her eyes, suggest the ringtail’s true closest relative, the raccoon. She looks like she’s perhaps twenty-five years old, and stands about five and a half feet high, although when unrestrained it’s hard to keep her still long enough to get a truly accurate measurement.

This particular cacomistle has huge, liquid brown eyes and expressive long ears in constant motion, and her ringed tail is just short of being as long as she is tall. While she’s too slim to be called buxom, she’s not flat-chested; her peasant-style blouse accents her cleavage nicely. The blouse is a pleasant cream color, nicely offsetting her chest fur. It’s laced with gold thread holding together a dark blue bodice, the same color as the skirt which falls down to just below her knees. It’s slit on the left side almost to the thigh, so it’s extremely easy to catch glimpses of Marila’s strong, long legs. A simple gold earring hangs from her left ear, and her left ankle is encircled with a gold band. Her plantigrade feet remain bare.

Marila doesn’t live very close to this park, but it’s not that far a walk from her, and she’s found the place… fascinating. A little alarming, to be sure, but fascinating. She’s not sure what to make of it all, but most of the time she’s left alone; she’s a quiet type, after all, and doesn’t attract a lot of attention.

But she watches everything curiously.

Out of Character Notes

Marila is primarily meant as a prey character. She has no magic, offensive or defensive. She’s observed predators in the park and she’s daydreamed about being one every once in a while—but she doesn’t stretch, doesn’t dislocate her jaw, and doesn’t do anything extraordinary that would let her eat anyone who wasn’t very, very small. And the chances are she’d have a lot of trouble convincing herself to do it.

As prey, though, Marila would be entirely unwilling. She could be seduced by a handsome fellow (or even an attractive woman), but she couldn’t be seduced into their mouth. That would be crazy! If caught, she’ll struggle as violently as she’s able to.

On an OOC level, I like macro/micro interaction and “realistic” scenes. I don’t have any particular species or gender bias, but tend to prefer somewhat feral approaches to predator/prey scenes. Magic and high-tech can be acceptable, and some unconventional things like mind control and vampirism, but ask about anything much past that: I’m open to a lot of things but might have to be in the right mood for them. No scat and watersports, please. (If you ask it’s going to make me awfully suspicious that you didn’t read any of this.)

Scenes where Marila is prey I generally expect to end with her death; she’s only going to survive if she gets coughed up (or teleported out or something else unusual). She has no magical ability to reform, either. Predators can reform her if they want to—but remember, she’s unwilling prey, and eating her is never going to be an act of warm fuzzy loving caring. Otherwise, let’s just assume there are just alternate history versions of Marila who didn’t get eaten.

Last bits: I prefer to be approached publicly, although I’m starting to cautiously approach people in whispers. IC approaches should still be context appropriate—if you’re a stranger and you introduce yourself by hugging her, she’s going to slap you. I try not to be a “grammar nazi,” but I’ll admit bias against people who habitually blow off proper sentence construction. This includes changing verb tenses mid-paragraph or mid-sentence. I don’t insist on long poses, though—short can be good (read some Hemingway, people!).
