Harpies are interesting creatures.
Most harpy breeds end up becoming very, very female. Always going after human males, always scooping them up and breeding them till they die or pass out at the very least. Protective, almost to stupidity, of their eggs. A lot of the species also barely have a brain in their heads, the aforementioned 'birdbrained' harpy, despite the fact they are quite dangerous.
Then there are harpies like Mariabella. Collectively they are known as Osprey-harpies or Lakeside-harpies. Unlike their omnivorious cousins, they are absolutely ichthyophagous, or fish eating. Tougher meats, akin to coming from birds, reptiles or other species, aren't good for her and she knows it.
Because of this constant need for fish, she doesn't actually live high in the mountains either, she lives in the lower foothills, near a lake or a river, and she nests in the largest tree she can find. Yes, she still nests.
Because of her...well..male-identification, she does crave and lust females as opposed to males. She -can't- exactly mate with human females and make little harpies, though, but she can fertilize her own kin and other egg-laying female species, as in full shell eggs...though if you could bring her to a science lab and do a little modification on her body, she -could- be wired, genetically, to breed other females.
Mind you, she's completely egg-laying herself, and though she cares very little for her eggs normally, if you -should- fertilize her, her body will go into 'hyper mommy' mode, and she will take care of that egg as any female would, only allowing her mate near it. Granted...if you -should- breed her, be prepared to be bred right back. She does...tend to become hyper-charged in her male half after sex with her female half.
Mariabella herself is a very loving and nice girl, though. She tends to not bother humans who fish off her lake, even catching them food on occasion, or landing on their boat and having friendly conversations with them, well..as long as it isn't mating season anyway. Its also where she got clothing from, as a particularly nice lesbian couple adopted her for some time and kept giving her food and clothing...till they broke up anyway. She hasn't seen them since, even if she did enjoy their company heavily.
