Mako is a young, carefree sharkman, traveling the seas and many costal towns to learn what he can about the world and the magic surrounding it, though he has been making his way inland and has found himself in the Nexus somehow. He is flexible and fast in the water, though when he's without his bubble, he is slowed down considerably, making it difficult for him to maneuver and escape danger.

From a younger age, Mako has always been facinated by the surface world and the people who inhabit it. The first time he saw the surface, he was trapped in a fishing net and hauled up onto a human ship, where he saw the clouds and sky for the first time. The humans, not wanting to suffer the sea's wrath, released him and went hurriedly on their way, leaving Mako near the surface to look around and explore. He found many islands, and often tried to get onto them, but he never got farther than the beach. With each failed attempt, his frustration grew; he needed to find a way into this new world.

Driven by a deep-seeded desire to explore and learn, he dove back into his familiar home, and started searching out and practicing Aquamancy, the magical ability to manipulate water. Though many considered him a traitor to his kind, learning a forbidden art, Mako was not discouraged, and continued to practice and learn in his own cave, learning from old tomes and trial and error. After some time, Mako finally mastered the art of Aquamancy, and, with his newfound abilities, took to the surface again and took a piece of the ocean with him, a small half-circle of water, enough to transport him and keep his gills wet. After some time, he even managed to learn to chill water enough to freeze it, allowing him to endlessly form crude weapons as needed

Mako has since been traveling like this for a few years now, guided by his curiosity and almost insatiable hunger for knowledge, and has learned quite a number of... interesting tricks. While he has learned the common tongue, he is still irrevocably bound to the ocean; unable to breathe outside of water for more than a few minutes at a time. Though the surface facinates him and he's nowhere near as innocent as he was when his journey started, the ocean will always be his home, and he can usually be found near beaches or pools.
