Makiko

"Have you ever had the feeling that the universe is playing a little joke on you? Quietly snickering behind your back? Not a big horrible life-ruining thing, but the sort of thing that pesters you and inconveniences you. Yeah, that's my whole life right there."

Makiko considers her nature to be a bit of a prank by some cosmic power or other. It's not all bad, certainly. But it does make things difficult very, very often. Usually when she really doesn't need it. Case in point- pronouns. Does she even get to use the usual ones? People seem to get mad, whether the hermaphrodite refers to itself as a girl -or- a boy. Boys think it's misleading of her to call herself female, girls think it's misleading of him to call himself male- really, the poor thing rarely catches a break for long.

At least nature solved the issue of how to dress for her. It's hard to hide a pair of E-cups, and impossible to do so comfortably. So she can't pass as a man at all. Though isn't it just a son of a bitch that most men are put off by their girlfriend having a shaft of her own. Is it really too much to ask to get just a little slack on that kind of thing?

Ah, well. The half-Japanese is favored in other ways- though certainly not all of them. Maki's got a massive intellect, very quick problem-solving skills, and quite the head for numbers. She's no MacGuyver, but she's also pretty good at creating solutions to problems with just whatever happens to be handy. Her skin is blemish-free and quite beautiful, as is her long dark-green(!) hair- as much from her taking good care of herself as anything. Her hips are broad and sturdy, her belly is flat, though not really waspish, and her feminine endowments -have- already been mentioned. She's also got a very good muscle memory, somewhat offset by a sort of innate clumsiness. Speaking of that, she's also very much the absent-minded sort, and terrible- positively terrible- at any sort of politics or subterfuge. She fumbles over her words often, and regularly sticks her foot in her mouth in conversations.

At least she's pretty, right? Button nose, exotically almond-shaped eyes, pleasant (though not particularly plump) lips. No facial hair (yeah, that was a -big- worry just before puberty) and her hands are luckily slim and feminine.

She usually dresses in ankle-length skirts or 'relaxed-fit' cargo pants, the last inch or two of either resting atop the feet of her waffle-stomper steel-toed workboots. How someone can pull off workboots and a -long skirt- of all things is a bit of a mystery, but oh well. For a top, she usually wears something light- she'd wear shorts or short skirts, but that's just an accident waiting to happen. Speaking of clothing, she dresses lightly for a reason- she's very much a cold-weather girl. Put her in the Boston fog, or a San Francisco morning, she's just fine. Anything over about 80 Fahren, however, and she starts getting crabby, lazy, sleepy and just sort of generally pissy. Her favorite tops are a thick forest-green bandeau that's robust enough to serve as a bra as well, and, alternately, an equally dark-green bustier that runs from just below her ribs up to her armpits on the sides. A cargo vest goes with either, especially if she's wearing a skirt- got to have pockets.

What for? Well, she's- to be honest- a classic nerd in some ways. Loves video games, anime and manga, computer games, roleplaying games (the pen and pencil kind specifically), high-end board games and strategy games....

...after all, dice don't ever get disgusted at you or make fun of you.

She's almost always listening to something on her iPod, frequently something from Overclocked Remixes. When idling, she whips out her DS and Pokemon games, or her sketchpad if she's got her pack with her- or a mysterious combination accordion file slash binder that she's got some project or other in. One front pocket is always full of pencils and pens. She even carries around chargers for her iPod, DS, and cellphone (a surprisingly simple free-with-your-plan phone), and a stereo-aux cord to jack the iPod into if she has a reason to drive.

Oh, yeah, forgot to mention that, huh? She's an adult, alright. Not even remotely a teen. Though, she sure acts like it. In fact, her self-image is still of a teenager, despite her being in her mid-twenties.
