Aaah... lost again? This is the third time today...
Being lost does seem to be her base state, really... but its not something she can help. Most of her kind have similar problems, for some reason or another, so it's typically accepted as an aspect of her species as a whole.
Buuut, we're getting ahead of ourselves, aren't we?
Lydia is a fairly simple sort, really. Born and raised in a world of some interesting extremes, she's grown up well, surviving the hardships of this other place with only a few scars to show for it. Of course, not all scars are physical, but she seems decent enough overall.
Lydia is what is known(at least on her world) as a Nelir. Nelir are very nearly human, and close enough, in fact, for interbreeding with humans to be possible, but they are still distinctly different in many ways, though it varies between individuals, what difference is there. Many Nelir have extra appendages, or different appendages(kitty ears are fairly common, or tails of some sort), but really some of them look completely human. The physical variances are impossible to predict, really, but they aren't the main difference.
The main difference is something else entirely. It is a simple control over and affinity for the elements, often unrealized by a given individual until their life is in gave danger, and they react on instinct. Depending on the circumstances, this may save their lives, but.... well. We'll leave it at that.
Their environment and a few thousand years of tradition have shaped the Nelir, in combination with their powers. Their ancestors were created for war, and their civilization has been shaped for war as a result. Martial service is exceedingly common(but not quite mandatory), and every member of their society knows at least the basics of self defense.
Most people on her own world know this, and draw their own conclusions from there. Then they meet Lydia, and have their minds blown.
Lydia doesn't seem at all like a fighter(she's had ten years service in what passes for the army), and she certainly doesn't seem like she can take care of herself. She gets lost regularly, and she seems lazy at the least. Incredibly laid back, she seems almost apathetic, completely uncaring about the world around her... most think it a miracle that she's still alive.
Just shows how much they know, I suppose.
Physically, Lydia's healthy, to be sure. She stands about five feet seven inches tall, her body lean and strong, typical of her species. She's got long brown hair, handing halfway down her back, typically bound in a ponytail behind her head, and her eyes are a pale, glacial blue, surprisingly intense for someone so laid back. She typically dresses in loose clothing(often in vibrant colors), though it's held tight to her body at her wrists and ankles to keep it from getting away from where it should be. Her feet are typically shod with sandals or soft shoes, and she wears a scimitar over her back, the sheathe angled for a quick and easy draw. As well, she tends to have a long knife strapped across her lower back, and a small satchel for traveling slung over one shoulder.
Her demeanor, well, you know that already. What she can do, well, you should find out by interacting!
