Lunereitic

"A sentient weapon? Who would be dumb enough to make one?"
- The Evil One who lives in the Dark Tower

History

The legend which surrounds the forging of the evil sword Lunereitic is a long and storied one. Heroes in the past have always had their most trusted weapons: Fingal had his Caledhwych, Arthur his Excalibur, Roland his Durandal, Tokugawa his Masamune, even Aragorn his Anduril. One rarely hears about the cursed weapons which have faded into antiquity, the half-forgotten Muramasas and Deathbringers whom any self-respecting villain would refuse to touch lest the curse on the sword bring him to a swift and (in)glorious end. This blatant imbalance in the arms race has been the doom of many an aspiring evil warlord who otherwise might have succeeded. (Names shall be left unmentioned. Professional courtesy.)

When the Evil One who lives in the Dark Tower cast his black shadow over the land, he called to his side champions of his own. Of his greatest warlords, the beautiful and cunning Luna Reynes proved to be the most outstanding of them all. Acting as hand and voice of her sovereign, Luna oversaw the entirety of the armies meant to conquer all the free kingdoms (and bring them under his armored boot, and burn and pillage, and massacre innocents, and exterminate plants and flowers that have no part in the conflict, and all kinds of stereotypically evil things). Time and time her plans were foiled again and again by the heroes of light, who although vastly outnumbered still managed to rout her armies by the use of legendary weapons. (Or by superior tactics and strategy, although she hates to be reminded of this.) An abortive attempt to secure one such weapon led to the demise of an entire irreplaceable platoon of shadow knights. Luna felt entirely unamused.

She asked the Evil One about this. The Evil One picked her up, tucked her in his lap, and explained in a patient and fatherly tone that Evil weapons do bad things to their owners, like sucking their souls out or cursing them with wobbly knees or making them bad at math. Luna asked for permission to gather the best academics (even Evil campaigns need their nerds) to forge a terrible weapon of raw power that could be used to successfully challenge the armaments of light. The Evil One agreed, and gave her some advice: make a plain sword emphasizing utility over ornamentation, and avoid the usual mistakes such as cooling the blade in the blood of innocent maidens or forging it of exotic unbreakable pyrite and the like.

The mightiest smiths labored on it for a year, only to have the beta version thrown out since it was too big for Luna to lift. The second blade failed a stress-strain test. Third time proved to be the charm and the mighty dark blade was imbued with the greatest dark enchantments of darkness. Designed to be the ultimate weapon in the arsenal of the Evil One and gifted to Luna, the sword would have been the ruin of the remaining free folk of the world. Unfortunately, it required a living will to harness its vast powers. Dozens of volunteers were sacrificed and their souls trapped by the blade, but none had the necessary power to control the weapon instead of being controlled by it. Luna finally offered herself; another general plunged the sword into her heart, her soul was taken, and at last the blade had a spirit of sufficient willpower to harness all of the power and malignance that the Evil One poured into it.

That blade was named Lunereitic in her honor.

She passed first to her champion, a great brute of an ogre who liked axes more anyways. Taken from his corpse by a paladin after the Battle of Five Fords (or massacre, according to Evil historians), Lunereitic corrupted him as well as his three successors, one by one. It was almost pointless by that time, for the Evil One did not last long with his best general removed and much of his power invested in the sword, and became relegated to a footnote in history. (Side note: the Evil One declared that he would "never be defeated by the hand of man." Prince Ralph was only too happy to kick him off his tower.) Thus Luna ended up unemployed and without Mediscare benefits or severance pay.

The sword, not surprisingly, is unhappy about this.

In the present, she's a bit of a mercenary and even a socialite. Luna still dabbles in assassination work or bounty hunting from time to time, but it's clear that her days of commanding armies are behind her. Her sole memento of those times is a Maneater dagger, a short knife with a wavy blade pattern. While Maneater doesn't have the sharpest or most jagged edges, it is a magical relic from an age where ensorcelled weapons were more common and more abundant. As the name implies, Maneater daggers are special weapons which target the male sex exclusively. Upon blade contact with exposed skin or flesh, a Maneater magically sucks the hapless victim through the metal and deposits him into a stomach stored inside of the hilt, condemning the unfortunate casualty to a gruesome fate of being digested alive over several hours. The hilt of a Maneater can be unscrewed and loosened from the crosstree to replace the full stomach with a hilt containing an empty one, and the entrance to the stomach at the pommel of the hilt can also be opened to release the prisoner. There is a catch, however: Maneaters will only release their victims upon a woman's touch, men being unable to remove the hilt or open the stomach lock at all. These weapons can be surprisingly difficult to destroy, as nutrients gained by the digestion of victims often go to repair and restore the weapon. Favored weapons of female assassins, their use is almost universally banned.

Past History Luna, the Giantess

I've been told that my evil giantess character(s) are highly missed, so I've decided to retool Luna into one. During her conquests across the land under the banner of the Evil One, Luna led her armies from the front in bloody pitched battles and arduous sieges alike. Of course, in an army full of backstabbers, rapists, monsters, and the other dregs of fantasy, a leader unable to assert her position by keeping her soldiers in line through force or terror is often swiftly replaced. In addition to being a skilled warrior and a cunning strategist, therefore, Luna Reynes had to be infused by her master's raw power lest an enterprising individual eliminate her - a very common occurrence amongst the Forces of Evil. It also meant that Luna had to stay in the Evil One's questionable good graces.

Armed with such power, Luna remained in command of the vast hordes of evil for far longer than the usual job security provided by such employment would suggest. She quickly became one of the most feared sights on the battlefield, her gigantic form towering over the highest castle turrets as her boots trampled armored knights and phalanxes into paste. With a snap of a finger she could grow large enough to fill a lake with her footprint or sweep an army away with her arm. Nor was she any less intimidating once her enemies surrendered; Luna set up garrisons in the occupied territories and exacted heavy tribute, all in accordance with the Evil One's Five-Year Plans for the National Economy.

Being so secure means rather ironically that Luna has developed a flighty, flirtatious and coy personality. She's very fond of teasing enemies and allies alike, flirting with both; her uniform is several sizes too small and has two conspicuous breast pockets for storing prisoners. This is not to say that she's an incompetent general or administrator, however; her concern is first and foremost a pragmatic one, ensuring that the flow of tribute remains uninterrupted, that the Evil One's orders are carried out in a practical and efficient manner, and that conquered territories remain pacified. As a military governor she expects prompt obedience from both her puppet rulers and her own army, and she's known to summarily digestecute both resistance members and soldiers of her forces convicted of war crimes. But can't a girl have some fun in the meantime?

Personality

In spite of a history bloodstained enough to do Lord Tywin Lannister proud, Luna tends to come across as being cheerful, somewhat snarky and not too concerned with the endless battles between The Forces of Good and The Forces of Ebil. She's surprisingly candid about her time as a general, claiming that her master made every mistake on the Evil Overlord List as well as some that weren't on it, and she tends to be more of a mercenary for hire looking to alleviate her boredom. She prefers to stay in her human form, which at least is pleasing to the eye, than as the singularly ordinary and plain longsword that she would be in weapon form. Luna is a tease, flirtatious and coquettish, looking more for fun than to serve any ideology. She calls Maneater her BFF. Properties of the sword still linger in her human form somewhat though she claims to find most souls distasteful. Her deadly skill in arms has not faded over the centuries, kept sharp with practice (she wears high heels to give competitors a sporting chance). The irony of that is not lost upon her.

"... Are you asking a sword to give you advice?"

"Well, y-yes -"

"Protip: Don't do that."

For her past self as a general, Luna's personality is essentially the same with some elements of the professional soldier and military officer. While still a cheerful giantess who distracts armies with her sexy stride and likes to sunbathe outside an enemy castle, she also gives careful consideration to the problem at hand; Luna sees to it that the Evil One's orders are followed above all else. In either incarnation she's a fearsome warrior with a blade as well as having significant magical powers, but her present self cannot transform into a giantess while her past self cannot transform into a soul-eating sword.

OOC Notes

- Lunereitic is meant to be versatile; she can be used in a lighthearted, silly RP, or in a serious and dramatic RP.
- Player prefers humans and humanoids. Furries and anthros just aren't my thing, sorry.
- It's Lunereitic, not the Lunereitic. (pronounced "Loo-nah-REH-tik")
- Because the soul of Luna is bound in the blade, the sword is considered female. If you reread the profile you may notice that the sword is referred to as "she" and "her." ^^
- Vore types: Soul vore, or being swallowed by her Maneater dagger.
- The sword will always return, because cursed swords have a habit of doing that.
- For giantess RPs I can make Luna's height match your preference, within certain limits - big enough to be past mini-giantess size (taller than 30 feet) but not so big that she loses all meaningful interaction with individuals (so shorter than 300 feet).
- Any more questions? Do ask!
