Lirea

Life isn't fair. It's often times brutal and needlessly unrelenting despite the best efforts one might strive to take. That describes Lirea's life to a T. Brutal.

Lirea is a Merfolk that was caught through her curosity in a fishing net in her very early life under the sea. She spent nearly two decades from that point on from within a derelict aquarium park converted over into a sleazy fisherman's hangout with his fellow shipmates and others. A practical gang, if one can't ignore that they're just old fishermen. Key note out of all that is old. The patriarch of this group who prized and abused her the most fell victim to old age and left the group in ruin without control of their illicit activities and other vices eventually garnered the attention of the law.

Imagine the surprise on the law enforcement officers raiding the locale when they come across a shark tank hosting an honest to Buddha, actual Mermaid! Granted, she wasn't anything expected with the ( likely forced ) tattoos, grundgy hair cut, and bad manners/speech. What does one expect when spending one's life trapped in a tank and only getting shitty music television to watch on a nearby old TV that was hardly ever turned off or switched channels?

Suffice to say, the officers were at a lost of what to do. Release her to the sea as she pleaded or turn her over to medical science to study, experiment, and likely dissect? Thankfully the media managed to finangle a shot with a camera into the area and document the sighting of this incredible being and the 'Free the Fishtail!" campaign began.

Freedom at last! ... Now how does this whole 'living as an adult' thing work?
