Is there such a thing as being too prepared?

No, really. Is it possible to be too prepared for everything, and still be sane? Some would argue that it is, but most people look at them, and think to themselves, 'Yeah, they're crazy.'.

... mind you, most of them are zombie chow, by now, or zombies themselves. Lilly, on the other hand, is still alive and well, and, more importantly, she is healthy, well-fed, and has company! Sort of. Her kitty isn't a good conversation partner, and she doesn't know what happened to her parents, so she can only assume the worst about them. Still, she's keeping on, for now, and, thankfully, is apparently immune to the zombie virus... small mercy, but she's got a chance of staying alive, and unchanged.

Of course, it doesn't hurt that she was prepared. Her father was a mercenary for a while, working with various countries over the years, and he was VERY much intent on teaching her how to take care of herself. She had her own gun from age five, and after that, well, her family always believed in being prepared. Her mother taught her basic medicine and first aid, while her father took her out on trips into the woods, teaching her how to live off of limited natural resources.

The end result, when the zombie threat became more than a science fiction horror show, was that Lilly and her family were VERY well-prepared for the problems inherent in such an outbreak. They had food, medicine, and ammunition enough to survive for months with the three of them, and more if it was only one of them stuck at home. As it happens, though, Lilly was the only one home when the virus really hit, with her parents out of town. She got a brief radio message, and then she dug in, barricading her door and getting everything ready.

It's been three weeks since then, and it seems like the worst is over. It's been quiet outside, but for the occasional shuffling, moaning undead bastard. It's been quiet enough, in fact, that Lilly has been preparing to escape. Using a map of the city, she's marked key spots, potential safe zones and potential supply centers with her parents, and now is ready to start making her way out of hell, with her cat Titus in tow. As long as she has enough bullets, though, she should be fine. Armed with an HK 416 and a Beretta 92, she should be fine.

You know. Unless she becomes zombie chow, too. Time will tell!
